Italy Grace Adcock

MANGHAM, La. – Italy Grace Adcock, infant daughter of Bobbie M. Parker and Tyson E. Adcock of Mangham, La., died Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2005, in Mangham.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Paula Bittle of Mangham and Bobby and Joyce Parker of Winnsboro, La.; her paternal grandparents, Sandy Felts of Alliance, Ohio, and John and Judy Adcock of Vicksburg; and her great-grandmothers, Pauline Savell of Baskin, La., and Mary Cupit of Newellton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church of Mangham. Burial will follow at Hewitt Cemetery under the direction of Gillis Funeral Home in Winnsboro.

Lizzie Barnes

PORT GIBSON – Lizzie Barnes died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Barnes was a member, usher and mother at Ashland M.B. Church in Port Gibson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Barnes; her parents, Jeff Sr. and Lizzie Davis; three brothers, Jeff Davis Jr., Ike Davis and Alfred Davis; and four sisters, Annie Trevillion, Mattie Lowe, Matilda Brown and Rosanna Brown.

Mrs. Barnes is survived by five sons, Wendell Barnes, Terry Barnes and Andra Barnes, all of Port Gibson, Calvin Fleming of Buffalo, N.Y., and Eddie Barnes of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Gloria Johnson of Lewisville, Texas, and Debra Richardson of Flower Mound, Texas; three children she helped rear, Rita Beasley of Vicksburg, Terry Beasley of Los Angeles and Susie Beasley of Chicago; three brothers, Aaron Davis, Harrison Davis and Arthurine Davis, all of Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Adline Ford of St. Louis; 17 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ashland M.B. Church with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.

David Richard Brooks

David Richard Brooks died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. He was 55.

A native and lifelong resident of Vicksburg, he was the son of the late Zan and Peggy Brooks. He was a graduate of H.V. Cooper High School and attended Hinds Junior College.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Vietnam era. Following his service in the Army, he attended the University of Mississippi. He was a riverboat pilot with J.O. Smith Towing for more than 29 years.

He is survived by his fiance, Dawn Williams of Vicksburg; a daughter, Lauren Williams of Vicksburg; two sons, Hunter Williams and Thomas Williams, both of Vicksburg; one sister, Gail Brooks Canada of Knoxville, Tenn.; and other relatives.

Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Jo Frances Geter

Services for Jo Frances Geter will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Pisgah M.B. Church on Lummie Street with the Rev. Dennis Redden officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 6 p.m. Friday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.

Mrs. Geter died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, in Los Angeles. She was 71.

Mrs. Geter was the daughter of the late Walter Geter Sr. and Rosa McClellon Geter. A graduate of Vicksburg High School, she was a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church and the Vicksburg Club of Southern California Inc.

She is survived by two sons, Danny M. Geter and DeWayne M. Geter; three daughters, Deborah A. Geter, Nita Faye Geter and Shirley Wells; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Betty Ford Ellerbe McBroom

Betty Ford Ellerbe McBroom died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Round Rock Medical Center in Round Rock, Texas. She was 72.

Mrs. McBroom was a retired school teacher, having taught at Culkin Elementary and at schools in Tallulah and Baskin, La. She attended St. Francis Xavier Academy and received a master’s in education from Mississippi College.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Ellerbe and George McBroom; a son, David Ellerbe; her parents, Charlie and Mary Ford; and one brother, Charles &#8220Buster” Ford.

Survivors include two sons, Ricky Ellerbe of Pearson, Ga., and Kenneth Ellerbe of Round Rock; one brother, Alfred Ford of Vicksburg; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles, pastor of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Ellerbe, Tanner Ellerbe, Stuart Ellerbe, Tim Cowart, Willie Renmore, Ellis Tillotson and Mark Tillotson.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Michael Hicks Netters

HERMANVILLE – Michael Hicks Netters died Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. He was 39.

Mr. Netters was preceded in death by his father, Arthur James McCullum.

He is survived by his mother, Georgia Neal of Hermanville; his stepfather, William Neal of Hermanville; two brothers, Daniel Hicks of Philadelphia, Pa., and Patrick Hicks of Hermanville; five sisters, Aletha Washington of Tulsa, Okla., and Brenda Hicks, Patricia Chess, Aleva Ellis and Pamela Hicks, all of Hermanville; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnny Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson.

Sha’Mela Lario Robertson

PATTISON – Services for Sha’Mela Lario Robertson will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Ray Coleman officiating. Burial will follow at Ingleside Cemetery in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 tonight at Williams Funeral Service.

Ms. Robertson died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2005, at her home in Pattison. She was 23.

Ms. Robertson was a nursing student at Hinds Community College. She was a member of Mount Burner Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Rose Mary Hubbard; and her maternal grandparents, Sam and Josephine Johnson.

Survivors include her parents, Roosevelt Robertson of Vicksburg and Brenda J. Keller of Port Gibson; a son, Reginald Verial Raaya Rogers of Pattison; a daughter, Rakiyah Vershay Robertson of Pattison; two brothers, Justin Jones of Jackson and Kerrick D. Johnson of Port Gibson; seven sisters, Atlease Robertson, Darcissus Robertson, April Lyons and Rose Marie Robertson, all of Vicksburg, and Kenya Johnson, DuShawna Johnson and NaChella Johnson, all of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends including the Johnson and Bass families.
