Barbara Sue Good Bass

Barbara Sue &#8220Bobbie” Good Bass died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 71.

Born in Foules, La., she was the daughter of the late Max Julius Good and Nannie Louise Blair Good.

Mrs. Bass was a registered nurse, having been employed by All Saints’ Episcopal School and Mercy Regional Medical Center. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James E. Bass of Vicksburg; a daughter, Rebecca Pierce and her husband, Tim, of Forest, Va.; two sons, Robert Bass and his wife, Janet, of Brandon and Danny Bass and his wife, Cathy, of Lake Charles, La.; a sister, Ruth Moreland and her husband, Harvey, of Monterey, La.; six grandchildren, Mindy Noland, Christopher Bass, Danielle Bass, Lauren Bass, Jared Pierce and Anna Pierce; one great-grandchild, Bailey Noland; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Green Lawn Memorial Park in Natchez.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Robert Bass, Danny Bass, Tim Pierce, Christopher Bass, Jared Pierce and Brian Noland.

Memorials may be made to Highland Baptist Church, 3518 Halls Ferry Road, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Lila Lowe Boolos

Lila Lowe Boolos died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005. She was 66.

Born in Delhi, La., she was the daughter of the late Andrew J. Lowe and Virgie Polan Lowe. A resident of Vicksburg since 1957, Mrs. Boolos was a longtime employee of Charles’ Department Store. She was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. &#8220Bill” Boolos.

She is survived by a daughter, Kim B. Schultz and her husband, Kevin, of Long Beach; three sons, Timothy Lee Boolos and his wife, Vicki, of Mary Esther, Fla., Paul Ellis Boolos and Todd Andrew Boolos and his wife, Tammy, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Andrew C. Lowe of Satsuma, Fla., and Bobby Lowe of Chattanooga, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Kasey Schultz, Brittany Boolos, Lindsay Boolos, Matthew Boolos, Lawren Boolos, Brooks Boolos and Maria Boolos; five nephews; and her longtime companion, Joe Ball.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. John Morris, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home with Trisagion prayers at 7:30 p.m.

Family and friends are invited to the Mercy Meal to be served at St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 2709 Washington St., immediately following the interment service.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Lowe, Michael Lowe, Kent Lowe, Mark Lowe, Marty Lowe and David Boolos.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Abraham, Leo Boolos, Dr. Lee Giffin, David Daniels, M. John Nosser and Kelly Cummins.

Ann Davidson

Ann Davidson died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 90.

Formerly of West Memphis, Ark., Miss Davidson had lived in Vicksburg for the past 20 years. She was a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church and a former member of West Memphis United Methodist Church.

She was a retired bookkeeper.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy Ballard Davidson Jr. and Grider Davidson.

Survivors include three sisters, Maude D. Abraham of Clinton, Pauline Ruffin of Baker, La., and Sally Park of Georgetown, Texas; and a nephew.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Harper officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crittenden Memorial Park Cemetery in West Memphis.

William Lloyd Diffey

William Lloyd Diffey died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005. He was 62.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Diffey was the son of the late William Albert and Ruth Hall Diffey. He was employed with Bill Harris Real Estate for a number of years and, for the past several years, had been a self-employed painting contractor.

He was a lifelong hunter and member of Hill Top Hunting Club, where he served as secretary and treasurer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his foster mother, Katie Jones, and two brothers, Charles Diffey and Donald Diffey.

Survivors include a daughter, Janice Barragan of Las Vegas; a son, William Michael &#8220Bill” Diffey of Athens, Ala.; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Claire Biedenharn, pastor of Bovina United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Cooke, Jerry Cook, Billy Ray Channell, Leland Haggard, Paul Smith and Archie Kirkley.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of Hill Top Hunting Club.

Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.

Lourine King

FARMERVILLE, La. – Lourine King died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Farmerville, La. She was 91.

Mrs. King was a homemaker. She was a former resident of Rayville, La.

She is survived by a daughter, Betty Lee King Smith of Vicksburg, and other relatives.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Rayville. Burial will follow at Delhi Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Viola Moffett

EDWARDS – Services for Viola Moffett will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards with Pastor Bobby Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home of Vicksburg.

Mrs. Moffett died Friday, Dec. 23, 2005, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 91.

She was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

Mrs. Moffett was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Moffett; five grandsons; two sisters; and two brothers.

Survivors include five daughters, Hattie Teague of Chicago, Mentha Tucker and Mary Moffett, both of Edwards, Margaret Hodge of Jackson and Alice Moffett of Indianapolis, Ind.; three sons, the Rev. Lue Moffett of Learned, Willie Johnson of Indianapolis and Clarence Johnson of Edwards; a granddaughter whom she reared, Paralean Johnson of Edwards; and other relatives and friends.

Rebecca Pierce Ross

LAFAYETTE, La. – Rebecca Pierce Ross died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005, in Lafayette, La. She was 66.

Mrs. Ross was the daughter of the late Paul W. Pierce Jr. and Sarah Margaret Smythe Pierce. She was a retired teacher, having taught in the Breaux Bridge School District for 30 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Debra Ross Landry of Lafayette; two sons, Jerre Knox Ross of Nevada, Texas, and Brent Allen Ross of Youngsville, La.; a brother, Dr. Paul W. Pierce III of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nephews.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at David Funeral Home in Lafayette with the Rev. Larry Wilkes of Episcopal Church of the Ascension officiating. Burial will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 9 tonight and from 8 a.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Paul W. Pierce IV, Samuel Louis Pierce, Joseph Bramande, Joey Landry, Jake W. Broussard and Chris Viator.

Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Douberly, Dylan Ross, Teague Ross, Cade Duckworth and Cote’ Kohutek and Aaron Landry.

Eddie Thomas Jr.

FOREST PARK, Ga. – Eddie Thomas Jr. died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, in Atlanta. He was 46.

Mr. Thomas attended Vicksburg High School and Mississippi State University, where he received a degree in electronics. He moved to Atlanta and was employed at Georgia State University for 16 years.

He was a resident of Forest Park, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Thomas Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Cross Thomas; his mother, Louise Jones Thomas; a daughter, Jacqueline Perkins; three sons, Lamarcus Fort, Marquez Cross and Andra Cross; one sister, Valerie Lee; four grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends.

Services were Dec. 21 at Gus Thornhill’s Funeral Home in East Point, Ga.

Roma Dale Warnock

Roma Dale Warnock died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.

Mrs. Warnock was a native of McComb and had lived in Vicksburg since 1955. She was the daughter of the late Forest Glenn and Anna Gertrude Kelly Wood.

Mrs. Warnock was a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital for 15 years and a private nurse for several years. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin W. Warnock, and a brother, Glen Wood Jr.

Survivors include a daughter, Lisa McLaughlin of Vicksburg; a son, Paul J. Warnock of Jackson; and three grandchildren.

Fisher Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Bobby Wayne Woods

Bobby Wayne Woods died Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, in Hamburg, Ark. He was 49.

A resident of Redwood, Mr. Woods was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon Woods, and a brother, Billy Woods.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debbie Woods; two sons, Tommy Lynn Woods and Vernon Wayne Woods; his mother, Barbara Woods of Hamburg; three sisters, Lois Keathley of Redwood, Ruthie Watt of Hamburg and Cindy Cole of Marks; four brothers, Timmy Woods, David Woods, Kenneth Woods and Carl Woods, all of Greenville; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg has charge of arrangements.
