As 2005 speeds toward a conclusion, it’s time to look deep into the ceramic coffee mug with a fresh cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee to ponder the year to come in sports.

After a surreal 2005, the coffee tells me that 2006 will be known less for loss, despair and damage (Ole Miss and Mississippi State football) and more for perseverance, rising above past disappointments and achieving new heights (Delta State quarterback Scott Eyster winning the Conerly Trophy as the state’s best football player on his fourth and final try).
