Fred C. Beauman Sr.

SARDIS, Ga. – Fred C. Beauman Sr. died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga. He was 59.

Mr. Beauman was born in Vicksburg to the late John and Alyeene Beauman. He was a coach and teacher for the Burke County School System in Sardis, Ga., where he taught for 26 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Georgia Coaches Association and PAGE Association.

Mr. Beauman was a basketball, tennis, baseball and golf coach, as well as an assistant football coach. He was a former member of the Burke County Library Board and Burke County Recreation Department. He was chosen &#8220Augusta Chronicle Coach of the Year” numerous times.

Mr. Beauman was a member and past deacon at Corinth Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Jenny Beauman of Sardis; and two sons, Fred &#8220Beau” Beauman Jr. and Channing Beauman, both of Sardis.

Services were Jan. 2 at Corinth Christian Church in Girard, Ga., with the Rev. Jack Hudson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Carl Thames, J.C. Thames, Charles Thames, Edwin Stevens, Douglas Holland and Curtis Peterson.

Honorary pallbearers were Rodderick Sams, Patrick Nelson, Steven Gilcrest, Gary Thomas, Gary Winfery, Kenneth Dixon, Ernest Golphin and former players.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the Corinth Christian Church.

Lula J. Brown.

Lula J. Brown died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 79.

A homemaker, Mrs. Brown was a member of Travelers Rest Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brown; two brothers, Vertis Buchanon and Manuel Buchanon; six sisters, Melissa Holmes, Topsy Smith, Mary Braxton, Maggie Cosey, Betty Edwards and Minnie Turpin; and her parents, Walter and Katie Lee Ellis Buchanon.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Christine Buchanon of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Clyde Smith of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Elzie O’Neal officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Helen H. Ferguson.

Helen H. Ferguson died today, Jan. 25, 2006. She was 65.

Born in Memphis, Mrs. Ferguson was a longtime resident of North Little Rock, Ark., and had lived in Vicksburg for the past 45 years. She was the daughter of the late Max Costy Hall and Sydney Johnson Hall.

Mrs. Ferguson was a retired office assistant for Dr. Robert Abraham. She was a member of the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary and the Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, where she was a past president of the Women of the Church.

She is survived by her husband, Richard C. Ferguson of Vicksburg; a daughter, Kelle Barfield of Vicksburg; two sons, Eric Banks of New York and Greg Banks of Phoenix, Ariz.; one sister, Jo Avra of Conway, Ark.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Church of the Holy Trinity with the Rev. Michael Nation, rector, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday at the church’s McInnis Parish Hall from 1 p.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Alfred L. Barfield, A.D. Barfield, Ed Jackson, Dr. Robert Abraham, Johnny Franklin, John Lanford, Herb Jones and Lee Davis Thames Sr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Hilda Hands, Martha Day, Dot Fenwick, Waid Barfield, Mary Benson, Nancy Watkins, John Byram, Jack Tohill, Coraleigh Decell, Jo Glyn Hunt, Shelia McRaney, Pat Berry, Gwen Usery, Sue Dean and Wanda Gail Helton.

Roger Glenn Mosley Sr.

KENNER, La. – Roger Glenn Mosley Sr. died Sunday in Kenner, La. He was 57.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Mosley served as a veteran of the Air Force. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 174.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delores Marie Grantham Mosley and Harold P. Mosley Sr.; and one daughter, Ann Marie Mosley Stanley.

Survivors include his son, Roger Glenn Mosley Jr.; one daughter, Dakota Marie Mosley; his fianc
