Willie Burden Sr.

Services for Willie Burden Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Revs. Alfred Lassiter Jr. and Leonard Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Burden died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 73.

Born in Tchula, Mr. Burden was a self-employed contractor. He was a former employee of Frank J. Fisher and W.H. Jefferson funeral homes. He was a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, McKinley Burden; and his mother, Rosa Lee &#8220Buck” Paige Searcy.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Richardson Burden of Vicksburg; a son, Willie Burden Jr. of Vicksburg; five daughters, Angelakay Burden and Mary White, both of Atlanta, Barbara White of Vicksburg, Patricia Evans of Greenville and Leona Burden of Chicago; five brothers, James Burden, Johnny Burden and Jerry Burden, all of Chicago, the Rev. Leonard Boyd of Columbus, Ga., and Frank Burden of the U.S. Army; seven sisters, Ruth Burden, Susie Burden, Dorothy Burden, Leona Burden and Bernadine Burden, all of Chicago, Jessie Mae Anderson of Vicksburg and Margaret Burden of Tchula; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ruth Holt Hamberlin.

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ruth Holt Hamberlin died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was 95.

Mrs. Hamberlin was born in Claiborne County.

She is survived by a number of relatives and friends.

Services were at 11 a.m. today at Whitehall Cemetery under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Gene Johnson.

Gene Johnson died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, at his home. He was 47.

A lifelong Vicksburg resident, Mr. Johnson owned the first tattoo studio in Warren County. He had played football at Warren Central High School and was a self-employed painter. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

He was the son of the late Lincoln Conrad and Barbara Belle Price Johnson.

Survivors include his fianc
