Sturges H. Anthony.

JACKSON – Sturges H. Anthony died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 85.

Mr. Anthony was a native of Sebastopol, Mr. Anthony had lived in Jackson for 60 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson.

He served in the Navy in World War II and retired from GM&O Railroad, where he worked as a switchman.

Survivors include his wife, Lola Anthony of Jackson; a son, Harris C. Anthony of Vicksburg; a daughter, Barbara Grant of Richland; one sister, Hazel Heflin of Union; and seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Jackson.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Cleophus Brown Sr.

Cleophus Brown Sr. died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 86.

Mr. Brown was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 213.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sang Brown and Alice Johnson; and by three brothers, Hosey Banks, Humphrey Banks and Willie Banks.

Survivors include five sons, Frank Brown of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Anthony Dale Brown, Cleophus Brown Jr., Elastic Brown and James Brown, all of Vicksburg; seven daughters, Barbara Davis and Alice Conley of St. Louis, Mo., and Barbara Griffith, Ida Mae Brooks, Elmarie Upshire, Felicia Brown and Delores Floyd, all of Vicksburg; a brother, John Banks of Chicago; a sister, Lillie Mae Chambers of Michigan; 40 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Bobbie Chambers.

Robbins Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Richard &#8220Goo” Brown died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. He was 96.

Mr. Brown was retired from Anderson-Tully Company. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kelly Brown; a son, A.C. Brown; and his parents, Richard Brown Sr. and Martha Brown.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Brown of Vicksburg and Freddie Brown of Jackson; three daughters, Ernestine Winters and Iola Delbro, both of Bloomington, Ind., and Delores Brandon of Vicksburg; and grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
