Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday at Robbins Funeral Home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mr. Brown died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. He was 86.

Mr. Brown was a veteran of the Army, serving in World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 213. He retired as a heavy-equipment mechanic from Waterways Experiment Station.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sang Brown and Alice Johnson; and by four brothers, Hosey Banks, Humphrey Banks, Willie Banks and Clint Woodhouse.

Survivors include five sons, Frank Brown of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Anthony Dale Brown, Cleophus Brown Jr., Elastic Brown and James Brown, all of Vicksburg; seven daughters, Barbara Davis and Alice Conley of St. Louis, Mo., and Barbara Griffith, Ida Mae Brooks, Elmarie Upshire, Felicia Brown and Delores Floyd, all of Vicksburg; a brother, John Banks of Chicago; a sister, Lillie Mae Chambers of Michigan; 40 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Bobbie Chambers.

Curline Williams Brown.

Services for Curline Williams Brown will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Archer officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Claiborne County.

Mrs. Brown died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.

Mrs. Brown was a retired presser for One Hour Martinizing. She was a member of Morning Star M.B. Church in the LeTourneau community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brown; and her parents, Henry Williams Sr. and Alberta Williams.

Survivors include four sons, Lee Andrew Brown of Hernando and George Brown, Charles Brown Sr. and Leon Brown, all of Vicksburg; one daughter, Bernadine Hatchett of Vicksburg; a brother, Sylvester Williams of Richmond, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; more than 50 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services for Richard &#8220Goo” Brown will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Troy Truly officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Brown died Sunday, Feb. 5, 2006, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. He was 96.

Mr. Brown was retired from Anderson-Tully Company. He was of the Methodist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Kelly Brown; a son, A.C. Brown; his parents, Richard Brown Sr. and Martha Brown; five brothers, Horace Brown, Robert Brown, Henry Brown, R.L. Brown and Shedd Brown; and a sister, Virginia Williams.

He is survived by two sons, Robert Brown of Vicksburg and Freddie Brown of Jackson; three daughters, Ernestine Winters and Lola Debro, both of Bloomington, Ind., and Delores Brandon of Vicksburg; and 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Sammie L. Minnifield.

OSYKA, Miss. – Services for Sammie L. &#8220Sam” Minnifield will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morning Star M.B. Church in Learned. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral home of Vicksburg.

Mr. Minnifield died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. He was 51.

A resident of Osyka, Miss., Mr. Minnifield served in the Air Force. He retired as a supervisor from DTI Trucking Company.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Minnifield.

He is survived by his wife, Helena A. Minnifield of Osyka; his mother, Bertha Mae Adams; a son, Kevin Evans; two stepsons, Toyin Kollyade and Tremell Williams; nine brothers, Eddie Minnifield and Nathan Adams, both of Edwards, Leo Adams of Baltimore, Md., Pete Adams of Memphis, Percy Adams of New Orleans and Sherman Sanders, Willie Thomas, Stanley Minnifield and Willie Galloway, all of Jackson; 10 sisters, Ernestine Clifton of Buffalo, N.Y., Bertha Johnson of Oklahoma City, Okla., Lakora Bates of Baton Rouge and Shirley Perkins, Sandra Rayne, Betty Jean Bracey, Brenda Galloway, Ruby Summers, Vera Littleton and Mildred Ruth Minnifield, all of Jackson; his stepmother, Alma Mae Minnifield; one grandchild; and friends and other relatives, including Gloria Kelson.

Dorothy Mitchell.

Dorothy &#8220Jinx” Mitchell died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at River Region Medical Center at age 79. Born in Cooter, Mo., Mrs. Mitchell had been a Vicksburg resident for over 56 years.

After arriving in Vicksburg, Mrs. Mitchell worked for the old Trailways Bus Station and later co-owned and operated Cy’s Grocery and Variety Store for 33 years with her husband, Charles &#8220Cy” Mitchell. She most recently worked for McRae’s in Vicksburg for 19 years.

Mrs. Mitchell was a member of Bowmar Baptist Church, where she served as adult ladies Sunday school teacher for many years. She was previously a member of the Cedars Ladies Club, Eudie Kavanaugh Home Extension Club and was an adoption advocate, helping place many children for adoption.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles C. &#8220Cy” Mitchell; her parents, Zelda Till and Boyd and Betty Buys; and a brother, C.T. &#8220Sparky” Buys.

She is survived by two daughters, Candi M. Harmon and husband, Danny, and Scarlett M. Tillman and husband, Carl; six grandchildren, Lindsay Smith, Kasey Tate, Blake Kirklin, Claire Tillman and Joey Tillman, all of Vicksburg, and Katy Davis of Clinton; four great-grandchildren, Colby, Chloe and Corbyn Smith of Vicksburg and Dawson Davis of Clinton; a sister, Nancy Crawford of Kennett, Mo.; and three brothers, Gary Buys of Blytheville, Ark., Greg Buys of Paragould, Ark., and Hayden Glasscock of Lynch Station, Va.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight and from 10 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service.

Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Rusty Buys, Mark Buys, John Buys, David Burton, Mark Mitchell and Rickey Mitchell.

Jessie Willis Neal.

Services for Jessie Willis Neal will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.

Mrs. Neal died Monday, Feb. 6, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 72.

Mrs. Neal was a retired nutrition worker from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Neal; and her parents, Jasper Buck and Anna Scott Johnson.

She is survived by a stepson, Melvin Mack of San Jose, Calif.; a sister and caretaker, Rosa Sanders of Vicksburg; two halfsisters, Jeweldean Buck of Las Vegas and Geneva McGriggs of Compton, Calif.; four grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 34 great-great-grandchildren; eight great-great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including members of the Mitchell, McKinney, Crawford, Scott, Williams, Neal, Ragan, Heard, Sanders, Squire and Tanner families.

Edward Noel Stevens.

CLINTON – Edward Noel Stevens died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Care Center Nursing Home in Clinton. He was 97.

Mr. Stevens was a native of Anguilla and had lived in Clinton for a number of years. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cullie and Sarah Stevens; three sisters, Florence Stevens, Theresa Stevens and Ruth Stevens; and six brothers, Harry Stevens, Forrest Stevens, James Stevens, Charles Stevens, Eli Stevens and Brewer Stevens.

Survivors include a nephew, Charles Stevens of Vicksburg; and a niece, Earlene Alexander of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Ed Hightower officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. Friday until the service at the funeral home in Vicksburg.

Letitia Jones Warren.

Letitia Jones Warren died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at her home. She was 94.

Born in Vicksburg on March 29, 1911, she was the daughter of Hardy Jones and Jimmie Lundie Sherard Jones. She attended Vicksburg Public Schools and Mississippi State College for Women.

Mrs. Warren owned and operated a framing business in Vicksburg for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Allein Ladies Bible Class.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, May Shepard Puckett and Emily Jones Duke; and three brothers, Franklin H. Jones, William Sherard Jones and Clinton Scott Jones.

Mrs. Warren is survived by two sons, George F. Warren Jr. and wife, Dot, of Greenville, Texas, and Hardy Jones Warren of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Mark David Warren and wife, Taryn, of Birmingham, Ala., and George F. Warren III and wife, Lisa, and Stephen Scott Warren, all of Dallas; and five great-grandchildren, Bryn Elizabeth Warren, Kara Elaine Warren and Erin Elise Warren, all of Birmingham, and Amanda Grace Warren and George F. Warren IV, both of Dallas.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John G. McCall, pastor emeritus of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Friday until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Mark D. Warren, George F. Warren, Stephen Warren, Andy Puckett, Jim Moore and Bill Moore.
