Hazel Miller Bates.
LOS ANGELES – Hazel Miller Bates died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at her home in Los Angeles. She was 82.
Mrs. Bates was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Lucille Miller.
Survivors include a son, Earnest Bates of Cleveland, Ohio; a daughter, Hazel Bates of Los Angeles; a sister, Earnestine Cosby of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.

Annie Mae Franklin.
LORMAN – Annie Mae Franklin died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 69.
Mrs. Franklin was a member of Jessimine Ridge Baptist Church in Lorman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Franklin; and a son, Joe Willie Franklin.
Mrs. Franklin is survived by six daughters, Mary Alice Green, Bertha Franklin, Samantha Franklin-Jackson, and Lamika Franklin-Patterson, all of Lorman, Lynda Franklin-Smith of Vicksburg and Sandra Franklin-Clark of Port Gibson; three sons, Robert L. Franklin of Kansas City, Mo., Carl Franklin of Natchez, and Larry Franklin of Chicago; two sisters, Nancy Bailey of Lorman and Mable Hudson of Harriston, Miss.; three brothers, Alphonso Wells, Curtis Wells and James Wells, all of Lorman; 31 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends including Dorothy and Floyd Thomas of McComb and Arcadia Brown of Lorman.
Services will be at 1 a.m Tuesday at Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman with the Rev. James Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at East Mount Olive Cemetery in Redlick.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Monday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Helen O’Neill Melsheimer.
Helen O’Neill Melsheimer, 86, died Feb. 10, 2006, at St. Joseph Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs, Ark.
Mrs. Melsheimer was a resident of Vicksburg until moving to live with family in Arkansas in 2003. She was the daughter of the late Alonzo and Leila Eidt O’Neill and a graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, where she served the Altar Society and the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality. She was a retired employee of the Corps of Engineers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. John C. Melsheimer; her mother and father, Alonzo and Leila O’Neill; and her sister, Carolyn Styron.
Mrs. Melsheimer is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Bobby Gordon of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; four grandchildren, John and Todd Gordon of Dallas, Texas, Karen Worrell of Jackson and Kyle Gordon of Mauldin, S.C.; six great-grandchildren; nieces, Lyn Speights, Sue Ann Booth and Judy Styron; and nephew, Rad Styron III.
Visitation will be at Fisher Funeral Home from 3 until 5 p.m. today, Feb. 12. A Mass of Resurrection will be said at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell officiating at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery following the service. Christian wake services will be at 4:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be John Gordon Jr., Todd Gordon, Kyle Gordon, Jimmy Worrell, Rad Styron III and Jerry Speights.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Hosemann, David Hosemann, Delbert Hosemann and Mike Booth.
