The 2006 fast-pitch season did not get off to a good start for the Vicksburg Missy Gators.

Ridgeland scored eight runs in both the first and second innings, and cruised to a 20-4 victory in the season-opener for both teams.

Haley Sims went 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored for Ridgeland. Katie Oldam added two hits, including a double, and scored three runs, while Christina Ratliff homered.

Claiborne Bryant led Vicksburg’s offensive attack by going 2-for-3 with an RBI single. The Missy Gators scored two runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the big early deficit.

Vicksburg will travel to face North-west Rankin on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
