Bobby Lee Black Sr.
NEWELLTON – Bobby Lee Black Sr. died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 68.
Mr. Black was born in Hanesville, La, and lived in Tallulah for four years. He was a retired general manager of Hunt’s Lumber Company and a licensed pilot. He was a member of St. Joseph Masonic Lodge, Newellton Volunteer Fire Department and First Baptist Church in Newellton.
Survivors include his wife, Lily Trevillion Black of Tallulah; two sons, Todd Black of Tallulah and Bobby L. Black of Ruston; one daughter, Donna Powell of Sterlington, La.; and six grandchildren.
Services were this morning at First Baptist Church in Newellton with the Rev. Don Thornton officiating. Burial followed at Legion Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Pallbearers were Danny Wallette, Tony Wallette, David Lee, Doug Lee, Mike Trevillion and William Black.
Harold Vernon Hatchett.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Harold Vernon Hatchett died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Ohio State University East Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was 46.
Mr. Hatchett was a self-employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Hatchett Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Hazel Williams Hatchett of Vicksburg; six brothers, John Hatchett, Albert Hatchett III and Rayfield Hatchett, all of Vicksburg, Phillip Hatchett and Louise Hatchett, both of Denver, and Joel Hatchett of Fort Worth, Texas; six sisters, Dorothy Rogers, Mary Ann Hatchett, Alfred Taylor, Donna Jones and Tammy Hatchett, all of Vicksburg, and Cherry Hatchett of Denver; other relatives and friends including Charlene King of Columbus.
Williams Funeral Services has charge of arrangements.
Della Mae Hill.
TALLULAH – Della Mae Hill died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 93.
Mrs. Hill was born in Mount George, Ark., and had lived in Tallulah for 60 years. She was a retired restaurant owner and a member of Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include one son, Jerry Hill of Tallulah; one daughter, Lois Finlayson of Tupelo; two brothers, Willis Grigsby of Baytown, Texas, and O’Neal Grigsby of Rayville, La.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private service will be Wednesday at Silver Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Henry Lowe.
Services for Henry Lowe will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Elem M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Williams Funeral Service.
Mr. Lowe died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. He was 79.
Mr. Lowe was a member of Mount Elem M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elnora Neal Upson and a sister, Ema Brooks.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Mobley of Vicksburg and other relatives and friends.
Alberthia Riley.
Alberthia Riley died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home in Vicksburg. She was 93.
Mrs. Riley was a member of Rainbow Chapter No. 51 Order of Eastern Star and Daughter of Elks Eureka Temple No. 737. She was a member of Bright Morning Star M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy Riley; and her parents, Roberta Knight and Dan Murphy.
Survivors include several friends, including James L. and Dellora Bosley, both of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. E.J. Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the hour of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Clarence D. Scott.
Clarence D. Scott died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 57.
Mr. Scott was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a 1966 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School. He was a member of Wayside Church of Deliverence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Scott; two sisters, Erma Scott and Mary A. Chambers.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Scott of Vicksburg; one son, Michael Scott of Hurley; one daughter, Clarissa Scott of Vicksburg; two stepsons, Darrell Green of Jackson and Joel Bracey of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Veronica Bracey of Chicago and Hope Bracey of Vicksburg; one brother, James Scott of Vicksburg; one sister, Rosa Sanders of Vicksburg; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives, including Andrew Jones, Edna Williams, the Scott, Gibson, Heard, Sanders, Lyons, Chambers, Wilson, Williams, Marbra, Hickman, Ragan, Shelton, Hicks, Smith, Davis, Allen and Sorrell families, all of Vicksburg.

Sylvester L. Smith Sr.
Sylvester “Pijoe” L. Smith Sr. died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 47.
Mr. Smith was employed with River City Rescue Mission. He retired from the City of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Henry Kiner Sr.
Survivors include his mother, Luella “Leola” Cooper of Vicksburg; his caretaker, Carolyn Bell of Vicksburg; his sons, Sylvester Smith Jr. and Michael Smith, both of Sioux City, Iowa; one daughter, Michelle Smith of Sioux City; three brothers, Richard Cooper III of Vicksburg, Roosevelt Cooper Jr. of Port Arthur, Texas, and Peter Kiner of Jackson; eight sisters, Mary Smith White, Tanya Kenney, Rachel Cooper, all of Vicksburg, Carolyn Smith and Tangie Cooper, both of Bellwood, Ill., Canary B. Cooper of Jackson, Chandra Cooper of Albion, Mich., and Reva Cooper of Memphis; and other relatives and friends.
