Lady Flashes open season with a victory|[2/24/06]

After three rainouts, St. Aloysius’ softball team just wanted to play.

Winning the opener was a bonus.

Catelyn Park pitched four innings in her first varsity start on the mound. She allowed four hits and struck out three as the Lady Flashes defeated Puckett, 4-3.

Sarah Franco came on in relief to pick up the save.

Catelyn Park went 2-for-3 to lead St. Al’s eight-hit attack. Lauren Lanier had a three-RBI triple and Taylor George had a single, double and an RBI. The Lady Flashes stole eight bases.

Sarah Howington had three stolen bases, Kay Kay DeRossett added two swipes.

The Lady Flashes are scheduled to play at Mize today at 6.

Vicksburg High’s scheduled home game against Clinton was rained out.
