Frances Marie Alvarado died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 65.

Born in Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Alvarado was a 1958 graduate of River High School and attended Florida State University and the College of Charleston.

As the wife of a career Navy officer, she lived in numerous locations, most notably Virginia and Anchorage, Alaska. She began her real estate career in Virginia where she was an agent and associate broker. After her husband’s retirement from the Navy in Anchorage, they remained there while Mrs. Alvarado continued her real estate career as a leading agent with Coldwell Banker. She was also associated with FDIC, Fannie Mae and Stewart Title.

While in Anchorage she was involved in various performing arts organizations, particularly the Anchorage Concert Association. She and her husband, a Vicksburg native, moved in 2001 to Vicksburg where she resumed her involvement in real estate with BrokerSouth GMAC.

Mrs. Alvarado was on the organizing committee for the Vicksburg Chamber Music Festival and a member of Green Hills Garden Club. She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.

Mrs. Alvarado was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Fike.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Alvarado Jr. of Vicksburg; one daughter, Lynn Foley of Vicksburg; two sons, Robert Alvarado III of San Diego, Calif., and Tony Alvarado of Anchorage; her mother, Frances Fike of Charleston; a sister, Anna Fike of Brooklyn, N.Y.; a brother, Joe Fike of Charleston; six grandchildren, Ashley Foley, Michael Foley and Matthew Foley, all of Vicksburg, Robert Alvarado IV of San Diego, and Elizabeth Alvarado and Olivia Alvarado, both of Anchorage; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Farrell, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, 5000 Indiana Ave., Vicksburg, MS 39180, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. and 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Warren Doiron, Mickey Koestler, Joe Durst, Mike Miles, Russell Manning and Jon Utpadel.

Mary Lou Ellis English.

DURANT – Mary Lou Ellis English died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 89.

Mrs. English was born in West, Miss., to Evie Bee Tabitha Self and Robert Lee Ellis. She was a hostess for Holmes County State Park and was employed by the Mississippi State Park Commission.

She was a member of Durant United Methodist Church.

Mrs. English was preceded in death by her husband, Barrett Sulivan English; a brother, Floyd Ellis; three sisters, Mildred Ellis, Vivian McCreary and Irene McCreary; and a son, Alvin Donald English.

She is survived by sons, Ray English and wife, Nora, of Vicksburg and Carlton Barrett English and wife, Karen, of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Busbea English of Grenada; daughters, Sybil Lou Pegg and husband, James, of Memphis and Judy Ann Alley and husband, George, and Vanda Lenard and husband, Drew, all of Vaiden; a brother, Robert Ellis of West; sisters, Evelyn Long of Memphis and Reece White of Kosciusko; and 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Southern Funeral Home Chapel in Durant with the Revs. Bill McCreary and Leon Holly officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in West.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Alvin Donald English Jr., Steven Ray English, Carlton Barrett English Jr., Mark Louis Alley, Kenneth Barrett Alley and Daniel Lenard.

Memorials may be made to Durant First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.

Oleavie Stewart.

Services for Oleavie Stewart will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rock of Ages M.B. Church with the Rev. Michael Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Block Cemetery in Union Church, Miss.

Visitation will be at Williams Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

Mrs. Stewart died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 92.

Mrs. Stewart was a homemaker. She was a member of Rock of Ages M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stewart; her parents, Sam and Marylizzie Allen Gray; five sons, Joseph Stewart Jr., Carl Stewart, Kenneth Stewart, Tim Stewart and George Stewart; one daughter, Gloria Stewart; two sisters, Mae Hannah Gray and Leola Clark; and four brothers, Sam Gray, Porter Gray, Ruben Gray and Governor Gray.

Survivors include three sons, Phillip Stewart of Vicksburg and Bill Stewart and Clifton Stewart, both of Saginaw, Mich.; three daughters, Mary Marshall and Dorothy Lee Stewart, both of Vicksburg, and Carrie Miller of Utica; one sister, Arsenia Pierce of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.

Williams Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Jack Shurley White.

Yazoo City – Jack Shurley White died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at Yazoo Health and Rehab Center in Yazoo City. He was 67.

Mr. White was a member of Holly Bluff Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matie Belle and William Luther White.

Survivors include three sisters, Gwen Kettleman, Lou Moore and Wanda Stokes, all of Yazoo City; and one brother, Robert &#8220Bob” White of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 today at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Yazoo City.

Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will Tommy White, Bo Moore, Steve Trammell, Buddy Moore, Phillip Kettleman and Jessie Pugh.
