Willie Burden Jr.
Willie “Chillie Willie” Burden Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 53.
Mr. Burden was a former carpenter. He was a member of Faith Christian Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Sr. and Otha Lee Turner Burden; his maternal grandparents, Virginia and Otha Turner; and his paternal grandparents, Rosie Lee “Buck” Paige and McKinley Burden.
Survivors include six sisters, Angelakay Burden and Mary Gomez, both of Atlanta, Barbara J. White of Vicksburg, Patricia Evans of Greenville, Jessie Mae Wade of Cruger and Susie Mae Wade of Chicago; his stepmother, Ethel Burden of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.

Gregory Earl Cox Sr.
JACKSON – Services for Gregory Earl Cox Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tougaloo College Chapel in Jackson. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg under the direction of Collins Funeral Home in Jackson.
Mr. Cox died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was 40.
He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Tougaloo College.
He was preceded in death by his father, James C. Robbins; one brother, Ronald L. Cox; and grandmothers, Rosie L. Kemper and Rachael Mack.
Survivors include his wife, Ginnie Cox of Jackson; two daughters, Latoya Cox and Gynifer Cox, both of Jackson; one son, Gregory Earl Cox Jr. of Jackson; his mother, Patricia A. Cox of Jackson; his grandfather, Willie Kemper of Detroit; six brothers, James Cox of Memphis, Rickey Cox, Derrick Cox, Terry Cox, Cedrick Cox and Willie Cox, all of Jackson; six sisters, Teresa Cox and Rochelle Cox, both of Jackson, Lisia Kersh of Pearl, Nellie Cox Strong of Vicksburg, Fudgene Swain of Southfield, Mich., and Rachelle Washington of Chicago; and other relatives including Lula Matoes.
James Haney Jr.
James Haney Jr. died Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 53.
Mr. Haney was a resident of Vicksburg.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Willie Mae Haney Boyd; and his father, James Haney Sr.
He is survived by his mother, Marcella Haney of Vicksburg; two brothers, Willie Richardson of Jackson and Larry Haney of Vicksburg; four sisters, Inishal Ann Haney and Mary Louise Reese, both of Milwaukee, Wis., Beatrice Haney of Vicksburg and Mattye Watson of Jackson; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Pearlie Mae Norrise.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Pearlie Mae Norrise died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006, at Provena Covenant Hospital in Urabana, Ill. She was 48.
Mrs. Norrise was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Ragan Sr. and Caldonia Pinkney; and 2 brothers, Leonard Ragan and Andrew Ragan Jr.
Survivors include her husband, Mose Norrise Jr. of Champaign, Ill.; three daughters, Victoria Buchanan and Nikole Wesley, both of Champaign, and Shirley Norrise of Edwards; two stepsons, Bobbie Evans of Edwards and Walter Thomas of Jackson; two sisters, Lizzie Hudson of Edwards and Geneva Wilson of Vicksburg; two brothers, Walter Ragan and John Willie Ragan, both of Edwards; 12 grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Carl Ross.
UTICA – Services for Carl Ross will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Belmont Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Rohelia Baptist Church Cemetery in Utica. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica.
Mr. Ross died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 43.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carson Ross Sr.; one brother, Carson Ross Jr.; and a sister, Betty J. Ross-Andrews.
Survivors include his mother, Glin A. Floyd-Ross of Utica; two sisters, Joyce M. Ross of Jackson and Dorothy J. Ross-Polk of Utica; one brother, Cedric Williams of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
