Walter Glen Diffey.
ANGUILLA – Walter Glen Diffey, 59, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Rolling Fork First Baptist Church, and burial will follow at Golden Link Cemetery in Anguilla. Visitation will be today from 3 until 6 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork and an hour before the services at the church.
Mr. Diffey was born Jan. 24, 1947, to Thomas and Myrtle Diffey of Delta City, Miss. He graduated from Anguilla High School and from Delta State University with a bachelor’s of science in mathematics. He recently retired from Mid-Valley Pipe Line Company. He was a member of Anguilla Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and was a member of a gospel trio that was often invited to sing at churches in the area.
Mr. Diffey was an avid hunter and fisherman, especially fond of duck hunting. His home was beside Deer Creek in Anguilla, and each year he purchased a brood of ducklings, which he raised and released to live on the creek for the enjoyment of the community.
Mr. Diffey is survived by his wife, Rebecca Touchstone Diffey; and two children, his son, Byron Thomas Diffey and his wife, Dawn, of Anguilla; and his daughter, Karen Diffey Lipscomb and her husband, Chad, of Flora. He had three grandchildren, Kaleb Lipscomb of Flora, Tommy Diffey of Gulfport and Zach Nance of Anguilla. Other survivors include his twin sister, Gail Diffey Keith and husband Phillip of Oxford; sisters Marlene Diffey Hairston and husband Billy of Scott and Valerie Diffey Wiggins and husband Isiac of Clinton; two brothers, T.G. Diffey and wife Linda of Orlando, Fla., and Pat Diffey and wife Valerie of Villa Rica, Ga. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Fannie Belle Hudson Nyman.
Fannie Belle Hudson Nyman, born Nov. 21, 1920, died on March 2, 2006, in Houston, Texas, after a lengthy illness. She was 85.
Fannie was born in Epps, La., and grew up in Pioneer, La. She was the daughter of Charles Owen Hudson and Arizona Lillian Hudson. She graduated from Pioneer High School in 1939.
Fannie moved to Vicksburg in 1939 to attend Street Sanitarium Nursing School, where she received her nursing certification. She married Nels Nyman in 1942 and became a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was a registered nurse anesthetist for 40 years at the Vicksburg Infirmary and the Vicksburg Hospital. As a nurse anesthetist, she enjoyed participating in the birth and care of many of Vicksburg’s citizens. She was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Vicksburg Garden Club.
Her husband of 61 years, Nels J. Nyman, preceded her in death. Fannie is survived by two sons, Douglas J. Nyman and wife, Jacqueline, of Houston, Texas, and Carl M. Nyman and wife, Charlotte, of Texarkana, Texas; four grandchildren, Stephanie Nyman of Hamilton, New Zealand, Eric Nyman of Lubbock, Texas, Joel Nyman of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer Nyman of Corpus Christi, Texas; a sister, Mary Ann Jones of Oak Grove, La.; and two brothers, George Crosby of Severn, Md., and Bing Crosby of Fort Smith, Ark. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Hudson and Albert Crosby; and a sister, Myrtle Yates.
The family appreciates the compassionate care and services provided by Park Place of CyFair, Park Manor of CyFair and Odyssey Health Care, all of Houston, Texas.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2006, from Crawford Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Cemetery under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. today, March 5, 2006, at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of the service at Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Carl T. Hudson, Robert Murin, Robert Butler, Eric Nyman, Joel Nyman and Chris Williams.

Woodrow Shorter.
PORT GIBSON – Woodrow Shorter died Friday, March 3, 2006 at his home. He was 56.
Mr. Shorter was preceded in death by two brothers, Monroe and Arthur Shorter.
Survivors include his parents, Candis and Matthew Shorter, both of Hermanville; five sisters, Sarah Barnes of Dallas, Adlean Dennis of Fishkill, N.Y., Margaret Smith and Carrie Shorter, both of Hermanville, and Florene Chase of Utica; four brothers, Matthew Shorter Jr., Jerry Shorter and Albert Shorter, all of Hermanville, and Abraham Shorter of Red Lick; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with Rev. Johnnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home and Tuesday from noon until the time of service.
