Northwest Rankin and Vicksburg decided to play two Tuesday at Bazinsky Park.
It wasn’t good either time for the Missy Gators, who were beaten 12-0 and 10-3 by the Lady Cougars.
The losses drop Vicksburg to 2-5 on the season. For Northwest Rankin, the sweep made it five straight wins after an 0-3 start.
The Lady Cougars took control of game one by scoring five times in the second inning. They had four hits in the at-bat off VHS pitcher Kristi Shelby.
Vicksburg’s best chance to score came in the bottom of the third when Kaci Flaharty reached on an error. Heather Shelby walked and then took second while Flaharty darted home. The umps, though, took the run away after determining Shelby had left the base too soon.
Northwest added two runs in the fourth for an 8-0 lead. It stayed that way until the seventh when the Lady Cougars scored four more runs against the Missy Gators reserves.
VHS coach Kori Crutchfield would not comment on the game, driving off immediately after the double-header.
Northwest’s Kimber Lacour combined with a reliever to limit VHS to one hit while striking out seven in gaining the win. Kristi Shelby had four strikeouts in five innings.
The Missy Gators’ lone hit came from Haley Jones in the second inning.
In game two, Northwest Rankin scored 10 runs by the third inning to lead 10-2. Vicksburg got single runs in the first, third and fifth.
Claiborne Bryant knocked in Heather Shelby with the first run. Shelby scored again in the third. Bryant had the third run following a dropped throw at first base with two out in the fifth.
Danielle Smith got the win for Northwest. Claire Ray took the loss after allowing 10 runs off five hits and seven walks.
Erin Wiggers had a solo home run to highlight a six-run third for Northwest.
Warren Central 3, Clinton 1.
Tiffany Fuller struck out 10 and limited Clinton to just two hits. The Lady Vikes (5-2) got two hits from Ashley Baker and a triple from Bridget Dillon. Mandy Fuller gave WC a 2-0 lead after scoring on a wild pitch in the second inning.
