JACKSON – Fred W. McCleave died Sunday, March 19, 2006, in Hattiesburg. He was 88.

Mr. McCleave was born in Jackson and had been a lifelong resident. He was a lifelong member of First Christian Church of Jackson. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II and worked many years as a salesman for McCormick Spices.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Bertram McCleave Sr. and Lillian Lyon McCleave; and sons, Larry Kenneth and Barry Wayne McCleave.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Myrtle Haney McCleave of Jackson; daughter, Charmaine L. McCleave of Hattiesburg; granddaughters, Fawn McCleave Francis of St. Louis, Mo., and Tiffany Holly McCleave of Trenton, N.J.; great-grandchild, Bram McCleave Francis of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Earlene Broadus McCleave of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, located on High Street in Jackson. Burial will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 tonight and at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

CANTON – Greg Smith died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Northside Hospital Cherokee in Canton. He was 27.

Survivors include his wife, Tisha Smith of Canton; three sons, Jacob Smith and Brandon Smith, both of Jasper, Ga., and Dakota Smith of Canton; one daughter, McKayla Smith of Jasper; his parents, Tommy and Julie Smith, both of Nelson, Ga., and Betty Nevels of Vicksburg; maternal grandmother, Mary Lee Nowell of Vicksburg; paternal grandmother, Tressie Smith of Jasper; one brother, Kevin Smith of Nelson; and two sisters, Jessica Carter of Marble Hill, Ga., and Kimberly Smith of Rockmart, Ga.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cagle Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with the Revs. Johnny Atkins and George Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Cherokee Memorial Park in Canton.

Pallbearers will be Harold Patterson, Shane Grizzle, Mitchell Grizzle, Doc Taylor, Barry Taylor, Terry Graveley and Barry Hite.
