Perry Dornbusch died Friday, March 17, 2006, in McAllen, Texas. He was 48.

Born in Spokane, Wash., he was reared in Vicksburg, Miss., and after graduating from Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, La., with a degree in Music Education, he spent the rest of his life in McAllen.

Perry belonged to Troop 7 in Vicksburg and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Warren Central High School, where his musical accomplishments were too numerous to list. He was in the Lions’ Band for four years straight and President of the Lions Band his senior year. While in college, he participated in the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps from LaCrosse, Wis., where he won first place in international individual competition on bugle baritone. He spent over 20 years teaching and inspiring students in the band world. Perry was one of the most successful and admired band directors in Texas. He was also an accomplished show designer, music arranger, band clinician and consultant for many band programs across the country. His bands won three state championships in two states and several Regional Bands of America championships.

Survivors include his wife, Vina Dornbusch of McAllen, Texas; two daughters, Audrey Dornbusch, age 19, and Ana-Elise Dornbusch, age 6, both of McAllen; one son, Daniel Perry, age 8, of McAllen; his mother, Francis Ann Dornbusch of Edinburg, Texas; one sister, Helen Dornbusch Timmreck and her husband, Al, both of Edinburg; one brother, Ed Dornbusch, and his wife, Kathy, both of Vicksburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, John F. Dornbusch.

A memorial Mass was said at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in McAllen, Texas, on March 20, 2006. Honorary friends are Bud Tacke, John Waite and all of the friends of Perry’s in Troop 7 and Warren Central High School’s Big Blue Marching Band. Jane Hannon.

Jane Hannon died Thursday, March 30, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 71.

Born April 18, 1934, in Amory, Miss., she had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 40 years. Jane was the daughter of the late Brooks Owings and Ruth Norton Owings. She was a fervent bridge player and co-owner of KFC in Vicksburg, Natchez, Tallulah and Ferriday. Jane was active in civic and community projects and a member of First Baptist Church.

Jane Hannon was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bobby G. Hannon of Vicksburg; two daughters, Barbara H. Rials and her husband, Robert Rials, of Vicksburg, and Cindy Hannon of Jackson; one granddaughter, Jane Aden Rials of Vicksburg; one grandson, Miller Rials of Vicksburg; and one sister, Jean Lemly of Brandon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Riles Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Buckles, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Family interment services will follow at Lakewood Memorial Park in Clinton, Miss. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Habitat For Humanity-Metro Jackson, Inc., 1260 Ellis Ave., Jackson, MS 39209.

Pallbearers will be Richard Marcus, James H. Davis, William K. Caldwell, Malcolm Montgomery, Kayo Dottley and Gene Allen.

Honorary pallbearers will be the KFC Breakfast Club and the Wednesday Bridge Club.
