Genora Chambliss Hoffmann.

Services for Genora Chambliss Hoffmann will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Calvary M.B. Church with the Rev. Phillip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from noon until the hour of service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Hoffmann died Sunday April 2, 2006, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 93.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Hoffmann was a retired domestic worker and member of Calvary M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hoffman; her parents, Walter and Luenetta Humes Chambliss; four brothers, David Chambliss, Claude Chambliss, A.B. Chambliss and Randolph Chambliss; and a sister, Annie Bell Felton.

Survivors include three brothers, Benard Chambliss of Fayette, Homer Chambliss of Los Angeles and Grover Chambliss Sr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lula White of Fayette and Effie Chambliss of Los Angeles; and other relatives, including the Martin, Miller, Gaskin and Humes families of Vicksburg.

Kler H. Jones Sr.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – Services for Kler H. Jones Sr., were Saturday at Beulah Baptist Church in Steelton, Pa., under the direction of Major Winfield Funeral Home in Steelton. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Zollinger’s Cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home with the Rev. James Archer officiating.

Mr. Jones died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pa. He was 77.

Born in Philadelphia, Mr. Jones was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources. He was a member of American Legion Ephraim Slaughter Post No. 733, Paxton Lodge No. 16, F&AM Prince Hall Affiliation Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Beulah Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bessie Jones.

Survivors include his wife, Elsie L. Caldwell of Harrisburg; the Rev. Vera M. Watson and Gail M. Ross, both of Harrisburg; one son, Anthony Q. Jones of Buffalo, N.Y.; one sister, Hiltrue Pressley Clark of Harrisburg; one brother, &#8220Snake” Henderson of Harrisburg; 19 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Lillian Caldwell, Herb Caldwell and Daniel Caldwell, all of Vicksburg.

Minnie L. Meeks.

Services for Minnie L. Meeks will be at 11 a.m. at Triumph Church with the Rev. Frank Gardner Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Meeks died Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 87.

A homemaker, Mrs. Meeks was a member of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Meeks Sr.; one son, Dale Douglas Meeks; and a sister, Ruby Hall.

Survivors include five sons, Robert Henry Meeks Jr. and Melvin &#8220Teddy” Meeks, both of Aurora, Ill., Calvin Ray Meeks of Naperville, Ill., George Winston Meeks of Houston and Earl &#8220Dusty” Meeks of Vicksburg; four daughters, Gloria Ann Roan of Las Vegas, A. Renee Buck of Vallejo, Calif., Karen Levette Meeks of Herndon, Va., and Robbie Marie Meeks of Vicksburg; one sister, Gleneva Flowers of Lynwood, Ill.; two brothers, Sam Odie Bowman and William Bowman, both of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one-great-great-grandchild; and other relatives, including the Williams, Reed, Gaskin, Bowman and Prentiss families.

Luther James Turner.

Luther James Turner died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 54.

A graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School, Mr. Turner was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Turner II and Alberta Hunt Turner; a sister, Shirley Turner; his grandparents, Leon Turner Sr., Lucille Turner, Levi Hunt and JoCarey Hunt.

Survivors include his wife, Tina Marie Turner of Vicksburg; five sons, Courtney Trevon Turner, Quawn Deadre Turner and Jacory Kesean Turner, all of Vicksburg, Roderick Walker of Plano, Texas, and Brian Walker of Champaign, Ill.; two daughters, Stacey Walker and Courtney Lindsey, both of Vicksburg; a stepmother, Velma Gibbs-Turner of Vicksburg; six brothers, James Russell Turner of Frankfort, Germany, Leon Turner III, Melvin Turner, Charles Stamps and Marcus Parson, all of Vicksburg and Eddie Turner of Brandon; seven sisters, Frankie Turner-Jackson of Chicago, Ella Turner Smith of Jackson, Barbara Turner-Bumpers of Oxford, Sherri Turner-Sharp and Patricia Turner-Clark of Sacramento, Calif., Tameka Parson of Vicksburg and Lois Perkins of Edwards; and other relatives including the Turner, Hunt and Gray families.
