HOUSTON – Burial and a memorial service for Opal &#8220Modean” Files will be at 3 p.m. today at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg with the Rev. Scott Samuell officiating. Services were Sunday at Southern Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Greg Moss and Johnny Cherry officiating.

Mrs. Files died Friday, April 7, 2006. She was 89.

She was born in Newbern, Tenn., but later moved to Vicksburg, where she was a clerk at Teresa’s Dress Shop. She was a member of New Hope Church of God in Thorn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gee Files; and her parents, Charles Edwin and Elma Lee Speights Burkeen.

She is survived by two stepsons, John Files and Glenn Files; a sister-in-law, Sue Burkeen of Houston; two nephews, Bruce Burkeen and Kent Lander; two nieces, Dana McManus and Debbie Burkeen; and other relatives.

Ruby Nell Stubbs Reed.

UTICA – Ruby Nell &#8220Doodle” Stubbs Reed died Saturday, April 8, 2006, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 80.

Mrs. Reed was a lifelong resident of Utica. She was a bookkeeper for Carraway Auto Supply in Utica for a number of years. She was a member of Utica Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Russell Everett Reed and her parents, John and Eva Stubbs of Utica.

Survivors include one son, Tony Reed; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Fisher and her husband, Brian, and Cynthia Kitchens and her husband, Greg, all of Utica; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Utica Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Herzog officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Andy Fisher, Willie Fisher, Jeffrey Reed and David Reed and her grandsons-in-law Donald Sills and Johnathon Temple.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dan Mathews, Bobby Neill, R.W. Carraway, Percy Bufkin, Allan Reed, Stan Sollie and Billy Beasley.
