Franklin D. Adams.
Franklin D. Adams died today, April 12, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 73.
A retired employee of Anderson-Tully, Mr. Adams was a member of Six Trumpeteers, United Gospel Singers and Shiloh Baptist Church in Copiah County.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Williams; his parents, Burnell Adams and Rosie Lee Dickey Adams; two brothers, Johnny Adams and Walter Lee Adams; and one sister, Eunice Adams.
Survivors include four brothers, Roosevelt Adams of Milwaukee, Will T. Adams of Utica, W.B. Adams and Lonzo Adams, both of Vicksburg; and two sisters, Lillie Kelly and Rosie Lee Smith, both of Vicksburg.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Moses Garner.
PORT GIBSON – Moses Garner died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at his home in Port Gibson. He was 102.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie B. Hedrick-Garner of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends, including Johnny Garner of Port Gibson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rising Sun M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Bald Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be this evening from 1 until 5 at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from noon until the service at the church.
Elizabeth Davis Morrison.
UTICA – Services for Elizabeth Davis Morrison were this morning at Utica Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Herzog officiating. Burial followed at Utica Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica.
Ms. Morrison died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. She was 83.
A lifelong resident of Utica, Ms. Morrison owned and operated Morrison’s Department Store. She was a member of Utica Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Morrison Wilson and a sister, Mavis Elaine Woods.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Elwell of Atlanta and Zada Morrison Gustafson of Utica; a sister, Mildred Purnell of Jackson; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Phil Franklin, Dan Currie, Bob Currie, Scott Hood, Gene Morrison, Don Morrison, Robert Womack and Wally Collins.
Ruby C. Parish.
Ruby C. Parish died Tuesday, April 11, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 78.
Ms. Parish was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg.
Survivors include a son, Larry Parish of Vicksburg; two sisters, Mattie Bell Lyons and Mae Lee Jones, both of Port Gibson; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

David Uzzle.
GLEN ALLEN – David Uzzle died Monday, April 10, 2006, at his home in Glen Allen. He was 83.
Born in Hollandale, Mr. Uzzle had been a resident of Rolling Fork and Glen Allen for many years. A U.S. Army veteran in World War II, Mr. Uzzle owned and operated Uzzle Machine Shop in Rolling Fork. He was a member of Deer Creek Masonic Lodge and First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Jennings Uzzle of Glen Allen; two sons, Donnie T. Uzzle of Glen Allen and Robert H. Uzzle of Sutton Bay, Mich.; one daughter, Susie Dunaway of Morrilton, Ark.; three brothers, Tommy G. Uzzle, Leslie Rudolph Uzzle and Earl M. Uzzle, all of Ringgold, La.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Rolling Fork with the Revs. Reese Kyzar, Millard Caulder and Jimmy McClendon officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kelly Perry, Eddie Hatcher, Will Thomason, David Hankins, Steve Hunter and Harvey Cockrell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Danny Jackson, Russell Stewart, Elton Branch, Jimmy Walker, the Men’s Adult Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.
William Washington Sr.
William “Preacher” Washington Sr. died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 83.
A retired employee of Waterways Experiment Station, Mr. Washington was a member of Jessup Lodge No. 4 F&AM, Brown-Washington Hunting Club and Pleasant Hill M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Melinda E. Washington; his parents, Alf Washington Sr. and Henrietta Johnson Washington; two sons, Peter Alexander Washington and Willie D. Thomas; one daughter, Rose James; three brothers, Alf Washington Jr., Taft Washington and George Washington; and three sisters, Susie Caldwell, Rosetta Washington and Malissa Thomas.
Survivors include two sons, William Washington Jr. of Yazoo City and Michael Washington of Vicksburg; three daughters, Josie Williams, Linda Washington and Mildred Harris, all of Vicksburg; four brothers, Elijah “Bo” Washington and Burrell Washington, both of Richmond, Calif., David Washington of Berkeley, Calif. and Joseph Washington of Vicksburg; one sister, Mary Washington of Berkeley; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Triumph Church with the Rev. Joseph Brisco officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 this evening at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
