The National Weather Service Office in Jackson said this morning the area has a good chance of beating the record again today.

The high forecast for today is 93 degrees and, depending on the source, the record is either 91 degrees in 1885 or 88 degrees in 1948. If the temperature hits the level predicted, it will break either record.

The forecast for the rest of the day calls for temperatures in the lower 90s with southwest winds about 5 mph.

Low temperatures tonight are expected to be in the low 60s. The daytime forecast for Wednesday calls the high to be in the upper 80s.
