Vicksburg set a record high temperature Tuesday or tied the previous mark.

The high measured at the official observation station at the Vicksburg Water Treatment Plant on Haining Road was 91 degrees.

There are conflicting records. The National Weather Service reports the record for April 18 as 88 in 1948. Another source says 91 degrees was also measured in 1885.

Monday’s high was 88, also a record, breaking the previous 87-degree high of 1955.

A high of about 90 degrees was also forecast today.
