Charles E. Clark.
LORMAN – Charles E. Clark died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 94.
Mr. Clark was employed with Claiborne County School District for 35 years. He was a member of Mount Olive M.B. Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Clark of Lorman; four sons, Charles R. Clark, Enoch Clark and Enos E. Clark, all of Lorman, and Juan’L S. Clark of McComb; a grandchild he reared, Enos E. Clark Jr. of Gulfport; and others.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Olive M.B. Church in Westside Community, with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and noon Saturday until the service at the church.
Walter Lee Freeman Sr.
Services for Walter Lee “Pee Wee” Freeman Sr. will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. James Archer officiating. Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery.
Mr. Freeman died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 54.
An employee of Cooper Lighting, Mr. Freeman was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his son, Fredrick Freeman; his parents, Ned Freeman and Georgia Washington Freeman; maternal grandparents, George and Fannie Washington; paternal grandparents, Henry and Ollie Freeman; and three brothers, Tommy Lee Freeman, Irving Freeman and Glenn Freeman.
Survivors include a wife, Patricia Scott Freeman of Vicksburg; three sons, Walter Lee Freeman Jr. and Dontay Freeman, both of Vicksburg, and Darryl Anderson of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, George Freeman and Wayne Freeman, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Dorothy Dee, Velma Williams and Mary Freeman, all of Vicksburg; 7 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mary Donald Gilmer.
EDWARDS – Mary Donald Gilmer died Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Edwards. She was 93.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Shiloh M.B. Church in Edwards under the direction of Randle & Hays Memorial Chapel in Jackson.
Willie Dale Hedrick.
PATTISON – Services for Willie Dale Hedrick will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill Christian Church in Russum with the Rev. Columbus Felton officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 1-6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until the service Sunday at the church.
Mr. Hedrick died Monday, April 24. 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 55.
He was a member of Forrest Grove Christian Church.
Mr. Hedrick was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Hendrick; and two brothers, West Hedrick and Q.C. Hedrick.
Survivors include his mother, Kathleen McGrew of Pattison; his wife, Diane S. Hedrick of Pattison; four sons, Willie Darnell Hedrick and Ron Hedrick, both of Pattison, Derrick Jones of Tillman and Eric Smith, both of Port Gibson; two daughters, Tamala Hedrick of Houston and Tiffany Terry of Vicksburg; brothers P.C. Hedrick and Clarence Hedrick, both of Pattison, David Hedrick of Gary, Ind., Cozean Hedrick of Blyeville, Ark., and Haze Hedrick of Pensacola, Fla.; sisters Cleo Conner of Continent, Fla., and Dorothy Barker of Gary; 15 grandchildren; and others.
Dorotha Hill.
Services for Dorotha Hill were this morning at Williams Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. John Carroll officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Hill died Monday, April 24, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 85.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Hill was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Willis Hill and Ellen B. Jackson; and stepfather, Sam Jackson.
Survivors include his caregiver, Rosa Coleman of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Rosie Golden and family of Chicago.
Johnny Ray Matthews.
CARY – Johnny Ray Matthews died Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Egremont. He was 53.
Survivors include his wife, Rosie Moore of Cary; two sons, James Moore and Charlie Savannah, both of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; six daughters, Doris Williams, Tracy Brown and Sadie Hall, all of Cary, Patricia Copeland of Rolling Fork and Teresa Williams and Virginia Moore, both of Murfreesboro; three brothers, Westley Bullock and Richard Robinson, both of Cary, and Earl Williams of Jacksonville, N.C.; three sisters, Etta Harris of Vicksburg, Balinda Brown and Jackie Davis, both of Cary; and 26 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie Dorsey officiating. Burial will follow at Cary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Mary E. McGregor.
Mary E. McGregor died Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. She was 53.
A native of Vardaman, Mrs. McGregor had lived in Vicksburg for 33 years. For 32 years, she worked as a teacher at St. Aloysius and Vicksburg Warren School District. She was active for many years as a sponsor of the Student Council, Robotics Team, National Honor Society and the Valhalla yearbook adviser. She led 14 educational tours for students and adults to Europe.
A graduate of Northwest Mississippi Community College, she received her bachelor of science degree from Delta State University.
Mrs. McGregor was honored as the Warren E. Schull Adviser of the Year 2004, Warren Central High School Teacher of the Year 2003 and Mississippi State Association Student Council Adviser of the Year 2001. She was the recipient of the Warren Central yearbook dedication in 2002. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.
Mrs. McGregor was preceded in death by her father, Rueben Edmondson of Vardaman.
Survivors include her mother, Sarah Gladys Edmondson of Vicksburg; her husband, Johnny Lee McGregor of Vicksburg; a son, Justin Wesley McGregor, and his wife, Amber Dawn of Memphis, Tenn.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Ivey, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at New Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery in Vardaman, with the Rev. Tim MacMillan officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Long, Gary Newman, Woody Barber, Curry Meeks, Buddy Irby and Rick Graham.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wade Hammack and Walter Hallberg Jr.
Ellis Scott Jr.
LORMAN – Ellis Scott Jr. died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at his home in Lorman. He was 61.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Ellen Scott; son Calvin Scott; brother Thomas Scott; and sister Mattie Holman.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Scott of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Herman Scott of Lorman; two sisters, Gloria Jean King of Fayette and Julia Scott of Omaha; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fellowship M.B. Church in Lorman with the Rev. Kemp Burley officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service at the church.
W.C. Stamps Jr.
ANGUILLA – W.C. Stamps Jr. died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. He was 49.
Survivors include his parents, W.C. Stamps Sr. and Cora Stamps, both of Nitta Yuma; three sons, Anthony Deon Smith of Detroit, Derric Smith of Kansas and Javis Smith of Anguilla; a daughter, Latrice Parker of Chicago; four brothers, Richard Warren of Anguilla, Timmie Stamps of Grenada, Earl Stamps of Nitta Yuma and Darryl Gayles of Chicago; five sisters, Ethel Stamps of Arcola, Diane Stamps of Nitta Yuma, Pearl Stamps of Anguilla, Barbara Stamps and Shirley Ann Stamps of Rolling Fork; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Christian Light M.B. Church in Anguilla with the Rev. Joseph Tyler officiating. Burial will follow at Nitta Yuma Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Odessa Trevillion.
FAYETTE – Odessa Trevillion died Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Natchez Community Hospital in Natchez. She was 63.
A homemaker, Ms. Trevillion was a lifelong resident of Fayette and member of Beckette Chapel AME Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isadore Trevillion and Roxie Baker Trevillion; a son, Keith Trevillion; four brothers, Isadore Trevillion Jr., Eddie Lee Trevillion, Johnny Trevillion and Rayfield Trevillion; and a sister, Lessie T. Noble.
Survivors include sons Kent Trevillion of Fountain, Colo., Ronnie Trevillion and Kevin Trevillion, both of Fayette, and Stanley Trevillio of Natchez; a brother, Albert Trevillion of Baltimore, Md.; sisters Ella Mae Thomas and Lula T. Kaho, both of Fayette; and others.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beckette AME Church with the Rev. Diane Banks officiating. Burial will follow at Beckette Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 6 tonight at Rollins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Samuel Ford, Glen Trevillion, Hubert Horn, Shelby Trevillion, Donald Moore and Eddie Moore.

J.C. Tyson.
OAK GROVE – J.C. Tyson died Thursday, April 27, 2006, at West Carroll Parish Memorial Parish Hospital in Oak Grove, La. He was 94.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Odis Bonner Tyson; two sons, Willis Doyle Tyson and Don Royce Tyson Sr.; a daughter, Betty Tyson Guillot; a grandchild, Don Royce Tyson Jr.; and his parents, James Preston Tyson and Mae Coates Tyson.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Walter Tyson and Larry Tyson; two daughters, Gilda Tyson Massingill and Peggy Tyson Avault; two brothers, Hursel Tyson and Donald Tyson; two sisters, Cleo Tyson Jasper and Bernice Tyson McIntyre; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove with the Rev. Jason Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Red Wing Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Rickey Recardo Whiten.
JACKSON – Rickey Recardo Whiten died Wednesday April 26, 2006 at his home in Jackson. He was 48.
A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Whiten was an organist and pianist for many years for Missionary Baptist churches in Vicksburg, Edwards, Pocahontas, Tougaloo and Jackson. He worked most recently at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Jackson where he had been employed for 13 years before retiring in 2004. He was a member of Tyner-Ford American Legion Post No. 213 in Vicksburg, the Mississippi Academy of Ancient Music and the Jackson French Alliance.
Mr. Whiten was preceded in death by his mother, Lee Thelma Whiten and a brother, Levern Whiten Sr.
He is survived by his wife, LeRhonda F. Whiten; a son Shundarius D. Whiten; his father, Curley Lee Whiten Sr. of Vicksburg; a brother, Curley Lee Whiten Jr. of Vicksburg; three sisters, Maurice W. Brown of Irving, Texas, Debra W. Williams of Detroit and Thelma Denise W. Bell of Vicksburg and his caregiver of 25 years, Max Garriott of Jackson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Philip Episcopal Church in Jackson. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg with the Rev. Tom Slawson officiating.
