George D. Boone.
George D. Boone died Monday, May 1, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 64.
Born in Vicksburg and a resident most of his life, Mr. Boone was a skilled floor man.
A United States Navy Veteran, Mr. Boone worked as a lieutenant and emergency medical technician with the Vicksburg Fire Department in the 1970s. He was a standing member of the American Legion Post No. 3 and VFW Post No. 2572 and No. 10734.
He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Boone; his mother, Louise Hall McDonald; two brothers, Mickey McDonald and Barry McDonald; and a stepson-in-law, Monty Dement.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Boone of Vicksburg; four children, Neesie Foster, Linda Kokenos, Daniel Boone and wife, Debbie, all of Texas, and Keith Boone and wife, Mary, both of Idaho; five brothers, James Boone and wife, Donna, Daniel W. Boone and wife, Lesley, Kenny Boone and wife, Tammy, all of Vicksburg, Daniel E. Boone and wife, Judy, both of Las Vegas, and Jerry McDonald of New Orleans; five stepdaughters, Vickie Tart and husband, Mike, Judy Whitman and husband, Cliff, all of Tennessee, Gayle Dolan and husband, John, Kay McDaniel and husband, Robert, and Gaye Dement, all of Vicksburg; five grandsons; two granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one great-grandson; nine stepgrandchildren; close cousins, Grady Bryant and wife, Louise, Bonnie Bryant, Dennis Hearn and wife, Dorothy, and many other friends and relatives.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Charlie U. Purvis.
TALLULAH – Charlie U. Purvis died Monday, May 1, 2006, at his home in Tallulah. He was 77.
Born in Raleigh, Mr. Purvis had lived in Madison Parish for most of his life. A farmer, he was a member of Willow Bayou Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Lou Ann Cox Purvis of Tallulah; three sons, Robert J. Purvis and Quintin R. Purvis, both of Tallulah, and Roy U. Purvis of Memphis; two daughters, Charlene A. Dillon of Tylertown and Fleeta M. Purvis of Pearl; two sisters, Lois Machen of Tallulah and Romarie Martin of Raleigh; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Revs. John W. Rushing and John Magnuson officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Johnny Purvis, Edgar Purvis, Kevin Purvis, Louis Purvis, George Edward Purvis and Paul Machen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Armon Cox, Horace Russell, Bud Taylor, Maurice Machen, Bobby Rawls and Kenneth Martin.
Eli Nathaniel Richardson.
CHICAGO – Services for Eli Nathaniel Richardson were Saturday, April 22, 2006, at Good Hope M.B. Church of Chicago under the direction of Calahan Funeral Home in Chicago.
Mr. Richardson died Sunday, April 16, 2006 in Chicago. He was 78.
Mr. Richardson received his education in the Vicksburg public schools, attending Cherry Street Elementary and Bowman High School.
Residing in Chicago, he retired from Campbell Soup Company after 37 years of service.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lucinda Richardson; three daughters, Gloria Jean Richardson, Lorraine Richardson and Lashe Richardson; two brothers, George Richardson and Benjamin Richardson; and four sisters, Olivia Lumpkins, Gertrude Sims, Rosa Lee Williams and Adelle Richardson.
Survivors include three daughters, Augustine Chatman of Barrett, Miss., Sharon Humphrey of Chicago and Stacy Guyton of Matteson, Ill.; six sons, Albert Richardson of Seattle, Eli Richardson Jr., Kelsey Richardson, Keith Richardson, Derrick Richardson and Kelvin Richardson, all of Chicago; four sisters, Bessie Dillard, Hazel Bell and Geneva Johnson, all of Vicksburg, and Mabel Turner of Chicago; two brothers, Silas Richardson of Chicago and James Richardson of Vicksburg; 34 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
