OAK GROVE – Services for George Everett “Joe” Gunter were this morning at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Grove, La., with the Revs. James Hayes and Mike Ray officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Gunter died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at West Carroll Memorial Hospital in Oak Grove, La. He was 92.
Evelyn Clyde Martin Landstreet.
FORT PAYNE, Ala. – Evelyn Clyde Martin Landstreet died Saturday, May 6, 2006, in Fort Payne, Ala. She was 97.
Mrs. Landstreet was born in Oak Ridge, Miss., to the late Edward Spencer and Lenora Hall Martin. A homemaker, she was a member of Fort Payne Church of Christ, 4-H Association of America, Dekalb County Extension Homemakers and Alabama Co-Operative Home Extension Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Earle Landstreet of Fort Payne and Sunny Ann Shears of Toano, Va.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne with the Rev. Larry Kirby officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to a charity of your choice.
Charles R. Loyd.
BOLTON – Charles R. Loyd died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his home in Bolton. He was 68.
Born in Claiborne County, Mr. Loyd was a longtime resident of Pattison, Miss., before moving to Clinton in 1984. Employed with Mississippi College for 22 years, Mr. Loyd worked as a security guard. He had been a resident of Bolton for six years. A deacon, he was also a member of Pattison Baptist Church in Pattison. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; a brother, Gerry; and a nephew, Stacy Loyd.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Loyd of Bolton; two sons, Randy Loyd of Bolton and James Loyd of Philadelphia; three daughters, Charlyn Wilson of Raymond, Lisa Norwood and Karen Tedeton, both of Bolton; a brother, Vernon Loyd of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Elizabeth Lang and Cecille Lutz, both of Pattison; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Unity Baptist Church in Jefferson County with the Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of service at the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Loyd, Lacy Loyd, Jerry Trim, Alan Chapman, Steve Howard and Steve Quinnelly.
