KILLEEN, Texas – Josephine Deloris Herron died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen, Texas. She was 73.

A former resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Herron was a former associate minister and member of Mount Olive M.B. Church in Redwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Jones and Etta Kemp; and a sister, Vertis Wilson.

Survivors include a son, Jonas Jordan of Lakehurst, N.J.; a daughter, Barbara Haggard of Killeen; two brothers, William Jones of Racine, Wis., and David Jones of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Lou Ella Ragan of Redwood, Florine Tyson and Dorothy Thomas, both of Chicago; five grandchildren; and other relatives, including the Davis and Miller families of Vicksburg.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

BOLTON – Services for Charles R. Loyd were this morning at Unity Baptist Church in Jefferson County with the Rev. Cliff Nelson officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Mr. Loyd died Saturday, May 6, 2006, at his home in Bolton. He was 68.

Born in Claiborne County, Mr. Loyd was a longtime resident of Pattison, Miss., before moving to Clinton in 1984. Employed with Mississippi College for 22 years, Mr. Loyd worked as a security guard. He had been a resident of Bolton for six years. He was a member of Pattison Baptist Church in Pattison, where he served as a deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerry and his wife, Shirley; and a nephew, Stacy Loyd.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Loyd of Bolton; two sons, Randy Loyd of Bolton and James Loyd of Philadelphia; three daughters, Charlyn Wilson of Raymond, Lisa Norwood and Karen Tedeton, both of Bolton; a brother, Vernon Loyd of Asheville, N.C.; two sisters, Elizabeth Lang and Cecille Lutz, both of Pattison; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were Larry Loyd, Lacy Loyd, Jerry Trim, Alan Chapman, Steve Howard and Steve Quinnelly.

Nancy R. Nevels.

Nancy R. Nevels died Sunday, May 7, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 68.

Born in Huntsville, Ala., Mrs. Nevels had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 50 years. A secretary, she was employed at the Vicksburg Water Treatment Plant. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Nevels; her parents, Willie Parks and Viola B. Parks; two brothers, Herman Parks and Billy Parks; and a grandson, Brett Nevels.

Survivors include four sons, Mike Nevels of Redwood, Chris Nevels and Dewayne Nevels, both of Vicksburg, and Terry Nevels of Coppell, Texas; a daughter, Pam N. Pugh of Vicksburg; two brothers, Charles Parks of Kosciusko and Haywood Parks of Florence; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Highland Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Ivey officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home and from noon Wednesday until the hour of service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Allen Pugh, Kevin Nevels, Todd Nevels, Jason Pugh, Brian Nevels and Larry Parks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Buck Burgess, Dr. Russell Barnes, Dr. Louis Puneky, R.L. Brister, P.K. Brister, P.K. Roberts and Tony Parks.
