JACKSON -Vera Spencer Garrett died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at her home in Jackson. She was 65.

A resident of Jackson, Mrs. Garrett retired as vice president of material management at St. Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson.

Survivors include a son, Stephen Carl Garrett Jr. of Madison; three brothers, Newlin Spencer and Nelson Spencer, both of Jackson, and John Spencer of Indianola; three sisters, Jane Ellis and Ruth Willis, both of Port Gibson, and Sarah Starnes of Cleveland; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Tim Starnes officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday until the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Jared Ellis, Michael Ellis, Robby Spencer, Austin Starnes, Marshall Willis and Spencer Willis.

Marjorie Ruth Tillman Kifer.

NEWELLTON – Marjorie Ruth Tillman Kifer died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. She was 84.

Mrs. Kifer was born in Eudora, Ark. She operated Cash Grocery following the death of her husband in 1965. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newellton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odell Kifer; two sisters; and three brothers.

She is survived by two sons, Nathan Odell &#8220Sonnyā€¯ Kifer Jr. of Newellton and Dan Allen Kifer of Carthage, Texas; two daughters, Kathryn Lee Kifer Foster of Newellton and Mary Lynn Kifer McLaughlin of Senatobia; one brother, Dan Tillman of Elaine, Ark.; and seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Newellton with the Rev. Clyde Webber officiating. Burial will follow at Legion Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and Cecil Lee Kifer and Brian Wade Kifer.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Newellton or a favorite charity.

Bernice Thelma Lowe.

Bernice Thelma Lowe died today, June 14, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 83.

Mrs. Lowe was a retired grocery store owner. She was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Lowe Sr.; her parents, Edward Sr. and Mary Walker; a brother, Edward Walker Jr.; and two sisters, Velma White and Sorena Morris.

She is survived by a son, Harrison Lowe Jr. of Vicksburg; three granddaughters; and other relatives.

W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Frank Lee Robinson.

Frank Lee Robinson died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 89.

Mr. Robinson was retired from Mercy Hospital. He was a member of Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church.
