James Alfred Boyd.
James Alfred Boyd died Wednesday June 14, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 47.
A native of Jackson, Mr. Boyd had lived in Vicksburg for 11 years. A 1976 graduate of Forest Hill High School, he worked for Overnite Transportation Company in Jackson as a truck driver for 11 years.
He attended Bradley United Methodist Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Clifton Sedley and Myrtess Morgan Boyd; and maternal grandparents, James Hollis and Audrey Nelson Thames.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Hearn Boyd of Vicksburg; a son, James Michael Boyd of Vicksburg; two daughters, Jessica Elizabeth Boyd of Utica and Jamie Lee Boyd of Vicksburg; his father and stepmother, Alfred Sedley Boyd and Jean Boyd of Jackson; his mother and stepfather, Billie Jean and Jim Berry of Jackson; two brothers, Jimmy Edward Boyd of Pelahatchie and Hal Greggory Boyd of Los Angeles; and a sister, Debi Boyd Hayes of Jackson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harry Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow at Slater Family Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bennett Hayes, Jonathan Boyd, Stuart Boyd, Charles Sibley, Jim Agent and Kelly Worthy.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Oakes, Mark Bobst, Tommy Hester, George Ward, Pete Wardlaw, Earnest Hilderbrand, Marion Bufkin and employees of Overnite Transportation Company.
William Douglas Jr.
Services for William “Doug” Douglas Jr. will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church with the Rev. Jessie Jones Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Friday until 6 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Douglas died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. He was 52.
Mr. Douglas was a nationally known bassist.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Carrie Douglas; his grandparents, James and Adleaner Douglas and Ike and Annie Ceola Witherspoon; and a brother, Pete Witherspoon.
Survivors include his wife, Evangelist Geneva Jones Douglas of Vicksburg; an aunt who reared him, Annie Lee Davis of Vicksburg; a daughter, Alexis Smith of Vicksburg; three sons, William Frederick Douglas III of Vicksburg, Robert Douglas of Nashville and Cedrick Douglas of Jackson; two stepdaughters, Catina Jones and Ola Jones Henderson, both of Vicksburg; four stepsons, Roderick Williams Sr., Arlo Jones and Robert Jones Jr., all of Vicksburg, and Capt. Gifford Jones of Enterprise, Ala.; three sisters, Pearl Walker of Jackson, Debra Wheaton and Annie Lee Jones, both of Vicksburg; 13 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Fred Hall Hudson and Sadie Pampley, both of Vicksburg.
Willie White.
AURORA, Ill. – Willie “Bill” White died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, Ill. He was 76.
Mr. White was born in Vicksburg to Bennie White and Annie Bland.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charlie Northern.
Survivors include his wife, Louise White of Aurora; a son, Robert Williams of Vicksburg; a daughter, Linda Johnson of Vicksburg; two sisters, Bobbie Sanders of Vicksburg and Virgie Sanders of Memphis; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Progressive Baptist Church in Aurora. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
James Funeral Home in Aurora has charge of arrangements.
