Helen Headley died Friday, June 16, 2006, at Mount Pleasant Manor in Mount Pleasant, S.C. She was 86.

Mrs. Headley was born in Lowell, Mass., and was a former resident of Port Gibson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Col. Chalon S. Headley, and three sisters, Joann Lovoie, Mildred Beauchemin and Gisella Kopacz.

Survivors include one son, Frank Headley of Columbia, S.C.; three daughters, Joni Shillato Medlin and Anna Chancy, both of Columbia, S.C., and Sheri Sykes, of Beaufort, S.C.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 4 p.m. Monday at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson with Rev. David Harrison officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the hour of service at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Wintergreen Cemetery Association in Port Gibson.

C.W. Tacke Jr.

C.W. &#8220Bud” Tacke Jr. died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Heritage House. He was 98.

Born in St. Louis, Mo., he was the son of the late Charles William Tacke Sr. and Emma Schenk Tacke. He had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1928 when he was employed by the U.S. Government Works Progress Administration. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Tacke was employed by Anderson-Tully Company as purchasing agent retiring from that position in 1974 with 45 years of service.

Mr. Tacke began his Boy Scout career serving as assistant Scoutmaster of Vicksburg’s Troop 3 for two years. Troop 7, sponsored by the Vicksburg Knights of Columbus Council 898, was chartered on Feb. 8, 1934, with Tacke serving as Scoutmaster of the troop for 50 years, retiring in 1984.

Mr. Tacke was an Eagle Scout, a member of the Order of the Arrow and received the Scoutmaster Key. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest award a Scoutmaster can receive with a council. Mr. Tacke received the St. George medal, which is the highest Catholic leadership award in Scouting.

Mr. Tacke was a past president of the Warren County Humane Society and was active in other civic endeavors including the American Cancer Society.

He attended St. Paul Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by wives, Frances G. &#8220Sis” Tacke and Jean S. Tacke; four sisters, Elsie Morgan, Florence Kreyling, Edith Broch and Olivette Tacke; and three brothers, Percy Tacke, Ralph Tacke and Leslie Tacke.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary Annelle Tacke of Jackson and Terri C. Henk of Schenectady, N.Y.; two stepsons, Wayne Randoll of Dallas, Texas, and Ross Randoll of Placerville, Calif.; four granddaughters, Dawn Fiorillo of Schenectady, N.Y., Carol Cheevers of San Antonio, Texas, Lynne Randoll of Austin, Texas, and Randee Zatzke of San Jose, Calif.; two grandsons, Scott Henk of Key West, Fla., and Alan Randoll of Dallas; six great-granddaughters, Elizabeth, Alexandra, Samantha, Madalyn, Mallory and Amelia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also a father image to over 2,000 Boy Scouts.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with Father Patrick Farrell and Father Charles Boykins officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with Knights of Columbus prayers at 6:30 p.m. and a wake service at 7. Visitation will also be Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be John Nassour, Michael Nassour, Joe DiRago, Vince DiRago, Henry Reed, Dennis Groome, Louis Renaud and David Reed.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Garnett, Jack Haney, Charles Finane, Donnie Bucci, Andrew Bucci, Timothy Fiorillo, Presley Sanders, Dr. Susan Chiarito and current and past Scouts of Troop 7.
