David Butler.
Services for David “Lamp” Butler will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem M.B. Church with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mr. Butler died Monday, June 19, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.
Mr. Butler retired from Anderson-Tully Co. as a maintenance worker. He was a member of St. Luke Freewill Baptist Church and the Willing Workers Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Montana Mosley Butler; a sister, Ernestine Younger; and his grandparents, Evelyn and Ed Mosley.
He is survived by his wife, Elvira Figguers Butler of Vicksburg; one son, Freddie Butler of Vicksburg; one daughter, Roenia Gleese Deloach of Savannah, Ga.; three sisters, Gladys “Doll” Butler and Elizabeth “Sue” Butler, both of Vicksburg, and Erma Chamberles of Los Angeles; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Patricia Ann Brown Gaskin.
Services for Patricia Ann “Sammie Lee” Brown Gaskin will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church with the Rev. Larry Clark officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gaskin died Sunday, June 18, 2006, in Vicksburg. She was 57.
Mrs. Gaskin was a homemaker and a member of Christian Home M.B. Church No. 1.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Gaskin Jr.; and her parents, Robert Johnson and Mary Frances Elizabeth Brown.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Brown of Jackson, Willie Brown and Louis Gaskin III, both of Vicksburg; six daughters, Aretha Miller, Mary Pierce, Lois Gaskin, Pamela Gaskin, Patricia Gaskin and Carolyn Gaskin, all of Vicksburg; a brother, John Earl Brown of Vicksburg; a sister, Sarah Mace of Vicksburg; 16 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Rosetta Leasy.
PORT GIBSON – Rosetta Leasy died Sunday, June 18, 2006, at her home in Port Gibson. She was 86.
Mrs. Leasy was a member of First Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Port Gibson and served on various boards.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie and Leetta Moore-Lewis; six siblings, Ida Bell Hedrick, Eddie Lewis Jr., Geneva King, M.H. Lewis, Fred Lewis and Jimmy Lewis; and a son, Wesley Lewis.
Survivors include two sons, Kelly Leasy of Port Gibson and Joseph Lewis of Tupelo; a daughter, Dorothy Leasy of Port Gibson; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at noon Sunday at Magnolia M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Lewis Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Family hour will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Otis O’Quinn.
PORT GIBSON – Otis “Hard Rock” O’Quinn died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 50.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Willie V. O’Quinn; his grandmother, Sallie O’Quinn; and a brother, J.C. Norals.
Survivors include a daughter, Deashanette Williams of Bowling Green, Ky.; a son, Otavious O’Quinn of Brookhaven; his father, Fred O’Quinn Sr. of Port Gibson; two brothers, Fred O’Quinn Jr. and Willie R. O’Quinn, both of Port Gibson; six sisters, Shirley McGravy and Berdia O’Quinn, both of Fort Wayne, Ind., Annie C. King, Ethel Jones, Annie Morgan and Ruby Turner, all of Port Gibson; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at China Grove M.B. Church in Russum with the Revs. Ray Coleman and Leon Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery in Lorman under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mabel Hendricks Wilkes.
Mabel Hendricks Wilkes died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Vicksburg. She was 93.
Mrs. Wilkes was born in Sharkey County to Mabel Claire Rushing Hendricks and Daniel Watt Hendricks. She graduated from Rolling Fork High School and attended William Carey College in Hattiesburg. She had lived at Floweree for the past 45 years. She worked in mercantile and on the family farm until her retirement.
Mrs. Wilkes was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Wilkes Sr.; and a son, James H. Wilkes Jr.
She is survived by two sons, James H. Wilkes III and Daniel Watt Wilkes Sr., both of Redwood; a sister, Emma Jean Miller of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal.
Visitation will be at McInnis Parish House at the church from 9 a.m. until the service.
