Rudolph A. Posey Sr.
PHILADELPHIA – Dr. Rudolph A. Posey Sr. died Thursday, June 22, 2006, at his home. He was 84.
A native of Neshoba County, Posey received his dental surgery degree from the University of Tennessee in 1946. He retired from private practice in 1992.
Posey was in the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served on the administrative board for 30 years; the Chamber of Commerce for 28 years, during which he was president; and the board of directors for Leake Academy and the Neshoba County Fair Association.
He was a member and past president of the Mississippi Dental Association. He was also a member and past president of the University of Mississippi Medical Center Guardian Society.
He was a Mason and a member of the board of governors for Shriners Hospitals for Children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Dees Posey, and two daughters, Patricia Posey and Pam Posey Sharp.
He is survived by a son, Dr. Rudolph A. Posey Jr. of Philadelphia; a daughter, Jane Posey Giffin of Vicksburg; and a brother, Bobby Glynn Sr. of Philadelphia.
Services will be today at 3 p.m. at McClain-Hays Chapel in Philadelphia with the Revs. Bill McAlilly and Fred Britton officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Cemetery.
