Alvin Kenneth Carter.

Alvin Kenneth Carter died Friday, June 30, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 60.

Mr. Carter was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Nora Carter.

Survivors include a brother, Douglas Wayne Carter of Pineville, La.; three sisters, Carolyn C. Bonner of Natchez, Vera Pauline Dayton of Vicksburg and Myrtle A. Swayze of Tallulah; and his companion, Bill Hayes.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Natchez National Cemetery with the Rev. Greg Brown officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.

Emma L. Moody.

REDWOOD – Services for Emma L. Moody will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at New Popular Grove Methodist Church in Utica.

Visitation will be from noon until 7 tonight at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. The family will be present from 6 until 7.

Mrs. Moody died Saturday, July 1, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 71.

She is survived by her husband, John T. Moody Sr. of Redwood; two sons, John Moody Jr. of Olympia, Wash., and Anthony Moody of Redwood; five daughters, Yolonda Moody of Memphis, Lynda Ragan, Carolyn Darville and Eddie Mae Williams, all of Vicksburg, and Bettye Moody of Ridgecrest, Calif.; a brother, Alonzo McNeil of Chicago; two sisters, Diane Turner and Ella McNeil Jones, both of Chicago; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

George Ray Moore.

BRANDON – George Ray Moore died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon. He was 79.

Mr. Moore was a native of Phoenix, Miss. He lived in Vicksburg for 50 years and had been a Brandon resident for the past four months. After more than 25 years of service, he retired from Cooper Lighting. He had been employed at Wal-Mart SuperCenter for several years. He was a member and deacon at Ridgeway Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Frances L. Moore of Brandon; one son, Jimmy Ray Moore of Bellefonte, Pa.; one daughter, Sharon M. Ames of Ridgeland; two brothers, James Ivan Moore of Yazoo City and Clyde Moore of Tooele, Utah; two sisters, Hallie Carsley of Vicksburg and Charlene Cox of Jackson; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Owen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Chester, Johnny Griffin, Joey Irwin, Don Hollowell, J.C. Reeves and Glen Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Ames and members of Ridgeway Baptist Church.

Martha Jane Roberts.

Martha Jane &#8220MJ” Roberts died June 29, 2006, at Covenant Health and Rehab. She was 77 years of age and of the Methodist faith.

MJ was a retired budget clerk for the Environmental Lab at Waterways Experiment Station. She also worked as an executive assistant for Gulf Coast Transit Co. in Tampa, Fla.; branch manager for First Federal of Largo, Fla., where she won the National Simpsa Award for excellence in advertising; and Spencer Chemical Co. (Vicksburg Chemical) during the 1950s.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert &#8220Monte” Montgomery of Port Gibson; her parents, Lonnie and Nadine Fewell; two brothers, Milton Fewell and Gilbert Fewell, all of Tampa; and Tasha, her beloved companion pet for 22 years.

MJ, who was lovingly referred to as &#8220MamaJane,” is survived by her daughter, Suzan Montgomery Ebeling of Vicksburg; a granddaughter, Monica Sedita Wolters of Clinton; and a niece and two nephews of Tampa.

Memorial services are at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Burns officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Thursday until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Memorials may be donated to the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society.
