James B. Cage.

REDWOOD – Services for James B. &#8220J.B.” Cage will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Evergreen M.B. Church Cemetery in Redwood. Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Cage died Monday, July 10, 2006, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 90.

He was a native of Redwood. He was a self-employed farmer and construction worker and worked for Clifton Burroughs for a number of years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evans Cage; four sons, Aurther Lee Cage, Gene Cage, James Cage and Randy Cage; and one daughter, Betty Cage.

He is survived by two daughters, Willia Cage Smith of Pontiac, Mich., and Gloria Cage Williams of Redwood; four sons, Willie Cage of Redwood, Melvin Cage of Vicksburg, Richard Cage of Brooklyn, N.Y., and L.C. Cage of Miami, Fla.; three sisters, Hattie Mae Richardson of Moss Point, Lauree Figures of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Sophronia Miller of Clarksdale; two brothers, Tommy Cage of Grand Rapids and W.C. Cage of Portland, Ore.; 21 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and friends and other relatives, including members of the Miller family of Vicksburg.

Roosevelt Brown.

MEMPHIS – Roosevelt Brown died Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was 60.

A 1965 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School, Mr. Brown retired from the Air Force and Consolidated Freight Trucklines in Memphis. He was a member of Brown M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Isiah Brown Sr.; maternal grandparents, Tommy Bass Sr. and Daisy Sampson Barnes; and a great-grandfather, Pink Sampson.

He is survived by his wife, Maristine Brown of Memphis; two daughters, Courtney Lashae Brown of Memphis and Angela Denise Brown of Vicksburg; his mother, Katie Mae Bass of Vicksburg; a great-grandmother, Ida Nixon of Vicksburg; three brothers, Isiah Brown Jr. and Abraham Stewart, both of Vicksburg, and Leon Stewart of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Reva Brown and Bernice Bass, both of Vicksburg; a grandchild, and other relatives, including the Bass, Gibson, Brown, Sampson, Heard and Tubwell families.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Brown M.B. Church in Southaven, Miss. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at M.J. Edwards White Haven Funeral Chapel in Memphis and from 1 p.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.

Jerry Eugene Uzzle Jr.

Jerry Eugene Uzzle Jr. died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 40.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Uzzle was formerly employed with DuraVent for a number of years. He was a commercial fisherman.

He is survived by his mother, Kathy H. Uzzle of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; his father, Jerry E. Uzzle Sr. of Vicksburg; a son, Jeremy Dobbs of Vicksburg; three stepdaughters, Rebecca Terry, Jennifer Miles and Elizabeth Miles, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Johnny Uzzle of Vicksburg; one sister, Wanda Lewis of Murfreesboro; and other relatives.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.
