August 2007 set for water, sewer in S. Vicksburg|[7/18/06]

Within about 13 months south Vicksburg residents whose homes were annexed into the city 16 years ago could have city water and sewer service for the first time.
A project to extend the city services to residents along southern Vicksburg roads or highways including Warrenton Road, U.S. 61 South and Redbone Road, is to be complete by about Aug. 30, 2007.
Bids from four contractors, ranging from $3,415,549 to $4,296,038, were opened at Monday’s meeting of the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen.
“We’re delivering sewage (-removal service) to people who were annexed 12 to 15 years ago,” Mayor Laurence Leyens said. “I’m proud we’ll be doing that during this term.”
The project’s specifications call for it to be completed in about a year and that time is expected to begin by about mid- to late August, city public-works director James “Bubba” Rainer said.
