Annie Armstrong.
Services for Annie “Candy” Armstrong will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shiloh M.B. Church with the Rev. Willie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with family present from 6 until 7.
Mrs. Armstrong died Saturday, July 15, 2006, at her home. She was 82.
Mrs. Armstrong was retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Goldsberry Sr.; her mother, Emma Ward Goldsberry; her husband, Eddie Armstrong; one daughter, Emma Armstrong Bolden; a sister, Laura Chambers; and a brother, James Goldsberry Sr.
Survivors include six daughters, Rosie Armstrong of Joliet, Ill., and Dorothy Armstrong, Olivia Armstrong, Brenda Armstrong Banks, Jessie Armstrong and Mary Armstrong Gusta, all of Vicksburg; three sons, Claiborn Armstrong and Kevin Armstrong, both of Vicksburg, and Rory Armstrong of Princeton, Texas; a stepmother, Rosie Lee Goldsberry of Port Gibson; five sisters, Laura Tarleton, Efna Tillman, Diane Rankin, Bobbie Harried and Loretta Ryals, all of Port Gibson; five brothers, Harrison Goldsberry of Lancaster, Texas, Donald Goldsberry of Vicksburg, Willie Goldsberry of Port Gibson, James Goldsberry of Geismar, La., and the Rev. Gerald Goldsberry of DeSoto, Texas; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Annie B. Chiles, the Nash, Woods, Chambers and Walker families.
Daniel Clark.
Services for Daniel “Bob” Clark will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Travelers M.B. Church, 1701 Poplar St., with the Rev. Alfred Lassiter officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Mr. Clark died Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 91.
Mr. Clark was a retired mechanic and a member of Zion Travelers M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Hattie Clark; sisters; and brothers.
Survivors include six sons, Joe Howard of Vicksburg, Fred Clark of Chicago, Robel Howard of New Orleans, Claude Whitfield of Baton Rouge, Al Ballard of Oakland, Calif., and Shilby Howard; four daughters, Ethel Carter of Vicksburg, Shirley Clark Burnett of Henderson, Nev., Betty James of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Barbara Dunn of Long Beach, Calif.; 25 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and friends, including Marie Byrd of Vicksburg.
Alvin E. Hudson.
Alvin E. Hudson died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at his home. He was 71.
Born in Jackson, Mr. Hudson was the son of the late Henry Gerves Hudson and Winnie Mae Buckley Hudson. He was a longtime resident of Clinton, moving to Vicksburg in 1990.
He had owned and operated Artcraft Printers of Jackson since 1963. He performed with the Mississippi Arts commission and was a founding member of the Old Time Music Society and Holy Cross Anglican Church. He was a member of the Old Hat String Band and Honor Bound.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Melsheimer; four daughters; one sister; and two brothers.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Meredith Spencer, rector of Holy Cross Anglican Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 1:30 until the service.
Pallbearers will be Luke Katzenmeyer, Bill Katzenmeyer, Fred Katzenmeyer, Alan Katzenmeyer, Bob Harper, Ted Holman, Joe Rangel and Dale Smith.

James C. Jernigan.
FLORA – James C. Jernigan died Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at his home in Flora. He was 69.
A native of Bolivar County, Mr. Jernigan was a former resident of Vicksburg, Crystal Springs and Tupelo and had lived in Flora for the past year. He served in the U.S. Army and was a retired truck driver. He was a member of Indian Hills Baptist Church of Tupelo.
Survivors include his wife, Iris Sue Jernigan of Flora; three daughters, Kay Daniel of Edwards, Debra Lee of Vicksburg and Renee Davis of Byram; one son, James Jernigan of Vicksburg; one stepson, Michael Gibbs of Newton; two sisters, Ann Hull of Viola, Ark., and Verna May Winfrey of Montgomery, Ala.; and nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Andy Delancy and Michael Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Martin Jr., Jeffrey Bounds, Jerry W. Jernigan, Todd Rakestraw, Brian Hartzog and R.B. Street.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenny Martin Sr. and Tracy Irwin.
Louis Shelby Jones.
Louis Shelby Jones died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at his home. He was 47.
Mr. Jones was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Jones Jr. and Beatrice Steward Jones; a brother, Stanley Jones; his maternal grandparents, Laura Mays and James Steward; and his paternal grandparents, Ira Jones Sr. and Lucille Grantham Jones.
He is survived by four brothers, Charles Tubbs Jr., Thomas Edward Tubbs and Ira Jones IV, all of Vicksburg, and Sgt. Joseph Powell Jones of the U.S. Army in Iraq; nine sisters, Linda White, Patricia London-Smith, Lavern Cosey-Gardner, Mary Miller, Nina Beatrice Buchanan, Denice Jackson, Angela Brown, Riva Lanore Jones and Ledora Jones, all of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.

Bobby Earl McElhenney.
LAUREL – Bobby Earl McElhenney died Monday, July 17, 2006, at his home in Laurel. He was 64.
Mr. McElhenney was preceded in death by four brothers, Alton McElhenney, Odell McElhenney, Coy McElhenney and Otis McElhenney.
He is survived by a daughter, Patty McElhenney of Toomsuba; three brothers, Clinton McElhenney of Laurel, John McElhenney of Vicksburg and D.R. McElhenney of Columbus; two sisters, Macie Roberson of Toomsuba and Mattie Helen Goss of Morton; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Laurel with the Rev. Jimmy Holder officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Memory Chapel Funeral Home of Laurel.
Rev. Joseph Ivy Strahan.
The Rev. Joseph Ivy Strahan died Wednesday, July 19, 2006, at his home. He was 72.
A native of Choctaw County, the Rev. Strahan was a graduate of Mississippi State University and New Orleans Baptist Theology Seminary. He was a Navy veteran and had pastored churches in Alabama and Mississippi for more than 36 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.B. Sr. and Mamie Parker Smith Strahan.
He is survived by his wife, Fern Strahan of Vicksburg; two daughters, Grace Strahan of Starkville and Ruth Strahan of Houston; five brothers, L.B. Strahan Jr. of Santa Ana, Calif., Glendon Strahan of Meridian, Doug Strahan of Poplarville, Don Strahan of Fayetteville, Ga., and Jerry Strahan of Angola, Ind.; and a sister, Marie Cockrell of Starkville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at East Louisville Baptist Church in Louisville. Burial will follow at Louisville Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bernard Tabor, Leon Small, Don Strahan, Doug Strahan, Jerry Strahan, Craig Piper, James Strahan and Robert Smith.
Memorial services will be at 7:30 tonight at Southside Baptist Church with a visitation at 7.
