Lucille Frances Fannon.

McCOMB – Lucille Frances Fannon died Thursday, July 27, 2006, at her home in McComb. She was 82.

Mrs. Fannon was born June 3, 1924, to George C. Rowe and Louise Marion Rowe. She was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in the Dental Corps in World War II. She retired in dental lab management.

She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of McComb.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Fannon; three sisters, Lillian Ellis, Lousisa Rowe and Virginia Christopher; and two brothers, Charles Rowe and George Rowe.

Survivors include five daughters, Linda Basil Lyons of Bentley, Mich., Deborah Batchelor Stratton and husband Bart of Kingston, Mass., Donna Perry and husband Joe of Plymouth, Mass., Carol Minott and husband Bruce of Halifax, Mass., and Coleen Humphreys and husband Keith of McComb; one brother, Paulie Rowe and wife Donna of Wilmington, Mass.; three sisters, Mary Ann Keith of Winthrop, Mass., and Dorothy Rowe and Edith Gallagher, both of Wakefield, Mass.; a beloved friend, Ellen Hoffman Jones; 12 grandchildren, Jimmy, Jory, Ronnie, Shawn, Mark, Christopher, Alyssa, Seth, Keith, Kasey, Taylor and Bradley; great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church with Father Bill Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park of Vicksburg.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb.

Pallbearers will be Keith Humphreys, Mark Lyons, Bruce Minott, Basil Lyons, Keith Minott and Bradley Humphreys.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Santos, Joey Santos, Ronnie Santos and Shawn Santos.

Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Hardy Jones.

Hardy &#8220Sonny” Jones died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at his apartment in Vicksburg. He was 87.

A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Jones was born to the late Hardy and Jimmie Sherard Jones. He graduated from Carr Central High School in 1939. He attended the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Fla., where he studied interior design.

Mr. Jones honorably served his country during World War II from April 1942 to October 1945. Mr. Jones was a radioman and gunner aboard a B-17 that was shot down over Germany on Oct. 14, 1943. He was captured and was a prisoner of war at Camp Stalag Luft III in Germany from Oct. 14, 1943, until his camp was liberated on May 2, 1945.

Mr. Jones received the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with one bronze star.

After the war, Mr. Jones owned Hardy’s Fabric & Gift Shop in Vicksburg. He then moved to Jackson where he had an interior design business for many years.

Mr. Jones was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Jackson where he sang in the choir for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: May Jones Puckett, Franklin Jones, Sherard Jones, Letitia Jones Warren, Clinton Jones and Emily Jones Moore Duke.

Mr. Jones is survived by many nieces and nephews: Marion Moore Burke of Long Beach, Miss.; Jim Moore of Boca Raton, Fla.; Bill Moore of Clinton; George Warren of Greenville, Texas; Hardy Warren of Vicksburg; Andy Puckett of Durham, N.C.; Willis Puckett of Columbus, Miss.; Andrea Jones Upchurch and Linda Jones Styron, both of Vicksburg; Sherry Jones Scott of McAllister, Mont.; Shea Jones of Waycross, Ga.; Judy Jones Turnbow of Pearl, Miss.; Roseanne Jones Brooks of Brandon, Miss.; Patricia Jones Patrick of Prince George, Va.; and Gordon Jones of Parachute, Colo. Mr. Jones is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews and other relatives. In addition, he is survived by his dear friend and caretaker, Donna Edwards.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at Belmont Gardens and the staff of Patient’s Choice Hospice for their kind and tender care of Uncle Sonny.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Mike Burke, Hardy Warren, George Warren, Sam Moore, Rad Styron and Doug Upchurch.

Hilda Ray McMahan.

ROLLING FORK – Hilda Ray McMahan died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. She was 75.

Born in Sunflower County, Mrs. McMahan had been a Rolling Fork resident since 1954. With her husband, she owned and operated the Rolling Fork TV & Appliance Store for a number of years.

She was a member of the Rolling Fork United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a son, Larry McMahan of Rolling Fork; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork with the Rev. Brian Carruba officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Robert Martin, Neill Nichols, Chuck Janes, Harvey Cockrell, Phillip Hester and Bobby Sandifer.

Harvey Wayne Savell.

PEARL – Harvey Wayne Savell died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was 72.

Mr. Savell was born and reared in Rolling Fork and had been a resident of Pearl for the past 17 years. He retired as a car salesman for Blackwell Chevrolet of Jackson.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rolling Fork.

He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Savell of Pearl; one stepson, Lee Miller of Ocean Springs; two grandchildren, Hayden Miller and Wesley Miller, both of Wiggins; and three nephews, Robert D. Savell of Gautier, Wayne Savell of Edison, N.J., and Majure Savell of Covington, La.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork with the Revs. Peyton Bass and Colen Lowery officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 4830 McWillie Circle, Jackson, MS 39206.

Cleveland Willie Thomas Sr.

Cleveland Willie Thomas Sr. died Friday, July 28, 2006, at his home. He was 63.

Mr. Thomas had spent most of his life in Vicksburg and lived in Jackson for a number of years. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Rose Hill M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Minnie Thomas.

Survivors include one son, Cleveland Willie Thomas Jr. of Walkertown, N.C.; three daughters, Bridgette Gomez of Walkertown and Victoria Rebecca Thomas and Cherrie Nicole Givens, both of Jackson; a brother, Oscar Thomas of Jackson; two sisters, Bettie E. Miller and Jerry L. Weathersby, both of Vicksburg; his companion, Joan Preston of Jackson; and an aunt, an uncle and other relatives.
