Hazel Walker Ellerbee.

TALLULAH – Hazel Walker Ellerbee died Monday, July 31, 2006, at her home in Tallulah. She was 88.

Mrs. Ellerbee was born in Sikes, La., and had lived in Tallulah since 1938. She was a retired secretary and bookkeeper for the Madison Parish Assessor’s office. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Tallulah.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ellerbee; and a son, Darryl James Ellerbee.

Survivors include one sister, Marjorie W. Parker of Olla, La.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Leslye D. Ellerbee of Tallulah.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. John W. Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Bishop, Jim D. Sevier Jr., Sidney Johnson, Dale McGoun, Michael Lancaster and Ray Caldwell.

Birdie Lois Flowers.

Birdie Lois Flowers died Monday, July 31, 2006, at Promise Specialty Hospital in Vicksburg. She was 84.

Mrs. Flowers was a native of Paragould, Ark., and had been a resident of Vicksburg for 68 years. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Tommie Susan Watkins Murphy. She had celebrated her 67 years of marriage July 22, 2006.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Denson; and a sister, Burla Dodd.

She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Carol &#8220Boy” Flowers of Vicksburg; two daughters, Peggy Woodruff of Gautier and Carolyn Irons of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren, Donna Carpenter, Renee Hawkins, Tiger Irons, Caroline Thomas, Lisa Counts, Laurie Weber, Charlie Woodruff and Keith Woodruff; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Redbone United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Frank Wright, Donnie Goodwin, Chris Irons, Jeff Hawkins, Scotty Rollison, Tiger Irons, Tommy Carpenter and Darrell Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Irons, Eric Carpenter, Shelby Irons, Austin Irons and Charles Irons.

Memorials may be made to the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, 2500 N. State St., Jackson, MS 39216.

Virginia Logue Hoxie.

Virginia Logue Hoxie died Sunday, July 30, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 96.

Born in Warren County, Mrs. Hoxie was the daughter of the late Archie O. Logue Sr. and Mary Kleinman Logue. She was a graduate of Culkin Academy. With her family, she owned and operated a dairy farm and was later a bookkeeper for Lum’s Commission Stock Yard.

She was a member of First Methodist Protestant Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Hoxie Sr.; a daughter, Mary Virginia Hoxie Mobley; four sisters, Agnes L. Harper, Mary L. Knox, Valeria L. Paxton and Helen L. Alford; and six brothers, A.O. Logue Jr., William Logue, Dorsey Logue, Otto Logue Sr., F.M. Logue and Hicks Logue.

Survivors include two sons, Albert L. Hoxie Jr. and the Rev. O.A. &#8220Rip” Hoxie Sr., both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Dorothy H. Dudley and Jean H. Heslin, both of Clinton, and Linda H. Powell of Collierville, Tenn.; two sisters, Doris L. &#8220Dot” Hosemann of Vicksburg and Jeanette L. &#8220Blue” Noble of Brandon; 21 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Revs. William Ndishabandi and O.A. &#8220Rip” Hoxie officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons: William A. Hoxie, O.A. &#8220Rip” Hoxie Jr., Danny Dudley, Thomas Dudley, Josh Davidson and Josh Williams.
