Candler Blackburn.

FRENCH CAMP – Candler Blackburn died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was 58.

Born in Vicksburg, Mr. Blackburn was born to the late Bishop Candler Blackburn and Bobbie Adcock Blackburn. A resident of French Camp, he was a former resident of Vicksburg and Winona. He was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. At the time of his death, he worked as a science teacher at French Camp Academy and collector of Indian artifacts. He was a member of the Methodist faith.

He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Rhodes of Pearl; a son, Nathan Blackburn of Madison; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Lipps officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John Crockell, Tim Bolding, Eddie Robinson, Terry Goings, Wade Armstrong and Russ Acres.

Bobby Forrest Lusk.

JACKSON – Bobby Forrest Lusk died Monday, July 31, 2006, at G.V. &#8220Sonnyā€¯ Montgomery Veterans Medical Center in Jackson. He was 70.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Berry Forrest Lusk and Bessie Odell Ballard.

Mr. Lusk was a former resident of Vicksburg.

He is survived by his wife, Bobbye Millwood Lusk of Jackson, two daughters, Angie Lusk and Sherry Lusk, both of Jackson; a son, Jeff Lusk of Jackson; and a sister, Peggy Lusk Fuquay.

A memorial service will be from 1 until 3 p.m. Saturday at Steam Room Grille under the direction of Mark Seepe Funeral Directors and Crematorium in Jackson.

Martha Ann Oakes Bass.

JACKSON – Martha Ann Oakes Bass died Monday, July 10, 2006, at her home in Jackson. She was 63.

Born in Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Bass was a former resident of Vicksburg and Jackson. She was a member of Parkhill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vance L. Oakes Sr. and Mary Sue Gordon Oakes; a sister, Ruby June Oakes O’Donnell; and two brothers, Vance L. Oakes Jr. and Maurice Oakes.

She is survived by her husband, Richard E. Bass Sr.; four sons, Richard E. Bass Jr., Joseph Loring Bass, Andrew Preston Bass and Brian David Bass; a sister, Norma Oakes Mayes; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Terry White of Bowmar Baptist Church officiating. Riles Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
