Cecil Avalon Carmical.

WARREN, Ark. – Cecil Avalon Carmical died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Bradley County Medical Center in Warren, Ark. He was 79.

A World War II Army veteran, Mr. Carmical had retired as assistant manager of Southern Retail Yard. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick L. Carmical and Maggie Beatrice Doggett Carmical; and a daughter, Judy Hudspeth.

He is survived by his wife, Clydine Williams Carmical; a daughter, Lynda Kaye Yocum of Vicksburg; a brother, the Rev. Leon Carmical of Sumrall; four sisters, Marvilene Nicholson and Wanda Gambill, both of Warren, Martha Reynolds of Hermitage and Jo Nell Norris of Monticello; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Moseley Cemetery under the direction of Frazer’s Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Bradley County Veteran’s Museum or Calvary Baptist Church.

James Herman Sr.

GRACE, Miss. – James Herman Sr. died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Sharkey-Issaquena Hospital in Rolling Fork. He was 74.

Born in Lake Providence, La., Mr. Herman had been a resident of Grace for most of his life. A U.S. Marine Corps veteran, he had retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Herman Sr. and Eva Earl Herman; a brother, Fred Herman Jr.; a half-sister, Margaret Ann League; and a grandson, Brandon Bonds.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria G. Herman of Grace; two sons, James Herman Jr. of Rolling Fork and Johnny Lee Herman of Mayersville; two daughters, Virginia Ann Barnett of Hollandale and Mary Ellen Bonds of Cary; two brothers, Harold Herman of Slidell and Herbert Herman of Lake Washington; a half-brother, Arthur &#8220Bubba” Lawler of Lake Washington; two sisters, Pearl Massey of Vicksburg and Wanda Gore of Rolling Fork; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sharon Chapel Assembly of God Church in Hampton with the Rev. Tim Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at County Line Cemetery in Glen Allan.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Pallbearers will be John Matthew Herman, John Dustin Herman, Jimmy Lee Bonds, Matthew Jones, William Oliver Pickle, Dave Duncan, Lee Lawler and Todd Lawler.
