Joe V. Allen.
Services for Joe V. Allen will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Service with the Rev. Frank Gardner Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Allen died Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at the G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery Veterans Administration Hospital. He was 65.
Mr. Allen was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He was a 1959 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and a veteran of the Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Allen Sr. and Mamie Allen; and a son, Xavier Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Bertha S. Allen of Vicksburg; two daughters, Carmen Burham and Portia T. Allen, both of Dallas; two brothers, Willie Allen Jr. of Seattle, Wash., and Larry V. Allen of Vicksburg; one sister, Carolyn Blakeley of Chicago; four grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Lincoln Hughes.
AURORA, Ill. – Lincoln Hughes was born on Sept. 8, 1920, in the Bovina community to Rufus and Mariah Erves Hughes. He departed this life at the age of 85 on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at Aurora Rehabilitation and Living Center in Aurora, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Mariah Erves Hughes; two brothers, Rufus Hughes Jr. and Johnny Hughes; maternal grandparents, John and Polly Williams Erves; and paternal grandparents, Robert and Kathryn Hughes.
Lincoln proudly served his country in the United States Army. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked for the U.S. Corps of Engineers before leaving for Muskegon, Mich.
Lincoln married Florida and lived in Muskegon most of his life. To this union, one son, Lincoln Hughes Jr., was born.
He is survived by his son, Lincoln Hughes Jr. of Louisiana; a loving sister, Susie H. Williams of Vicksburg; a devoted brother, Robert Hughes Sr. of Aurora; an aunt, Fredonia Thomas of New York City, N.Y.; two uncles, Rev. Willie Erves of Vicksburg and Adam Erves of Long Island, N.Y.; a sister-in-law, Willie B. Hughes of Aurora; a host of other relatives, including the Erves, Hughes, Meeks and Williams families and friends.
Services were Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, in Aurora.
Timothy Wayne Johnson.
Timothy Wayne “Timmy” Johnson died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 46.
Mr. Johnson lived most of his life in Vicksburg. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Brock Johnson; a daughter, Melissa Ruth Johnson; and a sister, Melissa Ruth Hardy.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Boone Johnson of Vicksburg; a son, Joseph Raymond Wempren of Vicksburg; his father, O.L. “Buddy” Johnson of Meridian; two brothers, Howard Johnson of Vicksburg and Earl Johnson of Meridian; and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Charles Tedder, Billy Davis, James Hankins, Jackie Bufkin, George Culley and Chris Bufkin.
