Thomas J. Carter III.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Thomas J. Carter III died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at his home in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 65.
Mr. Carter was born in Monroe, La, to Thomas J. Carter Jr. and Virginia Prichard Carter. A retiree from Sears Roebuck Company, he was employed at The Home Depot.
He is survived by his wife, Tecia Saucier Carter; three sons, Thomas J. Carter IV and daughter, Brittany, James E. Carter and wife, Mandy, and daughter, Heaven, and Richard G. Carter, and wife, Adrianna, and two daughters, Kylee and Emylee, and a son, Austin.
A private memorial service will be this evening at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Cage-Mills Funeral Home in Corpus Christi was in charge of arrangements.
William “Bill” Cessna.
William “Bill” Cessna died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 59.
Born in Utica, Mr. Cessna had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1964. He was a member of The Plumber’s and Pipe Fitters Union Local 619. He was the state training coordinator at the Joint Apprenticeship Committee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of Utica Christian Church. He will be loved and missed by all that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Linda F. Cessna of Vicksburg; a son, Joey Cessna of Vicksburg; a stepson, Robert Bedgood Jr. of Georgia; a daughter, Tammy R. Hays of Vicksburg; a stepdaughter, Belinda Sasser of Georgia; his parents, Francis and Cela Cessna of Utica; three brothers, Randy Cessna of Utica, Gary Cessna of New Orleans and David Cessna of Oregon; a sister, Jean Bailey of Columbus, Miss.; six grandchildren; and eight stepgrandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Vicksburg with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Annie Bell Curtis.
Annie Bell Curtis died Thursday, Aug. 24., 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 94.
Mrs. Curtis was born in Weir, Miss., but was a resident of Winona for most of her life. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Winona.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer B. Curtis; a son, Elmer B. Curtis; her parents, Terrel Coleman and Nanny Gladney Coleman; and three sisters, Mattie Ruth Kite, Rachel Oliver and Louise Barron.
Survivors include a daughter, Margie Johnson of Vicksburg; a sister, Gladys McIntyre of Weir; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church in Winona with Dr. Harold Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Winona. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at First Presbyterian.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Johnson, Kevin Heard, William Liston, Charles Marascalco, Jimmy Oliver and grandson Chuck Marascalco.
Flossie M. Shiers.
TALLULAH – Services for Mrs. Flossie M. Shiers, 84, of Tallulah, formerly of Archibald, La., were at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Mulhearn Chapel in Rayville, La., with the Rev. Francis Vriesen and the Rev. Sam Dunaway officiating. Visitation was from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shiers was preceded in death by her husband, Rebber Dayton Wilkes; a son, Elmer Shiers; two daughters, Ida Jane Shiers and Betty Carol Ellerbe; and two brothers, Elton Keene and Lennis Keene.
She is survived by two daughters, Beverly Womack of Tunica and Joann Free of Ferriday, La.; two sons, Jimmy Wayne Shiers and his wife, Linda J., of Louisburg, Mo., and Russell Dayton Shiers and his wife, Linda S., of Richmond, La.; two brothers, Spencer Keene of Boyd, Texas, and James E. Keene of Fort Worth, Texas; one sister, Meleter Pennington of Polkville, Miss.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, along with special friends, caregivers, nurses, aides and hospice workers. Judy Brooks, Dianne Collins, Jennie Collins, Janie Roddey, Cindy Mobley, John Little-John, Loretta Beasley, Pearl Carter, Annie Whittington, Phylis Cardin, Bobby Vinning, Hazel Stampley and Amanda Morris were especially kind to Mrs. Flossie.
Pallbearers were Eddie Guy Shiers, Bud Shiers, Billy Gene Wright, Donald Collins, Truman Collins and Waymon Hales.
Honorary pallbearers were Lester and Nancy Beadeaux, Mike Morris, Jerry Rice, Ted Cardin and Sue Tarver.
