Maurine Dickerson.
BENTONIA – Maurine Dickerson died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at Greenwood-Leflore County Hospital. She was 55.
Mrs. Dickerson was a Belzoni native and lived in Rolling Fork for a number of years. She was a member of Oil City Baptist Church in Oil City.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ellis Willard Sr.
She is survived by a son, Jeffrey Douglas Dickerson of Vicksburg; two daughters, Melinda Peden of Flora and Leslie Dickerson of Bentonia; her mother, Dorothy Franklin of Bentonia; three brothers, Ellis Willard Jr. and Billy Willard, both of Rolling Fork, and Ray Woods of Oil City; three sisters, Diane Franklin of Rolling Fork, Charlotte Langley of Inverness and Barbara Willard of Belzoni; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Pallbearers will be Ellis Willard III, T.G. Langley, Andy LaGrone, Allan LaGrone and Jeffery Douglas Dickerson.
Steve Gordon Gayle.
TALLULAH – Steve Gordon Gayle died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 65.
Mr. Gayle was born in Waterproof, La., and had lived most of his life in Madison Parish. He was a retired farmer and a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Heinrick Gayle and Martha Coates Gayle; two brothers, Kenny and John Gayle; and a sister, Shirley Bernard.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bobbie Robinson Gayle of Tallulah; one son, Stan Morgan of Tallulah; a brother, Frank Gayle of Tallulah; a sister, Sandra Herman of Tallulah; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Cletus Moak officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the church.
Pallbearers will be Kenny Robinson, Tommy Robinson, Chris Robinson, Bruce Wallace, Aaron Wallace and Brad Wallace.
Bobby L. Harris.
Bobby L. Harris died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 72.
Mr. Harris lived in Vicksburg for the past 40 years. He was born in Clark County to the late J.W. and Margaret Harris. He graduated from Satartia High School and served in the Army. He was an active member of First United Pentecostal Church, where he served in various positions for more than 30 years.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Harris was preceded in death by his sister, Edna Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette Harris of Vicksburg; two brothers, Frank Harris of Vicksburg and Harrell Harris of Canton; five children, Linda Jones of Canton, Ga., Britt Prince of Florence, Becky Crocker and Bobby L. Harris II, both of Vicksburg, and Victoria Green of Lufkin, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Services were at 10 a.m. today at First United Pentecostal Church on Paxton Road with the Rev. D.W. Tipton officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jack Branning, Harold Williamson, Lloyd Smith, Billy Fought, Steve Crocker, Jim Jones, Mike Harris and Bill Sullivan.
Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Champion, Rusty Champion, Cecil Langley, Frank Harris, Harrell Harris, Mr. Harris’s nephews and members of the Usher Department at First United Pentecostal Church.

Earl Barron Jordan.
PATTISON – Earl Barron Jordan died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006, at River Region West Campus. He was 87.
A resident of Pattison, Mr. Jordan was a bitter-welder.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beech Grove Baptist Church in Pattison with the Rev. Marlow Seeney officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery under the direction of Mark Seepe Funeral Directors of Jackson.
Visitation will be at 6 tonight at the church.
Debra Ann Hall Magee.
Debra Ann “Del” Hall Magee died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident. She was 48.
Born in Vicksburg, Mrs. Magee was an honor graduate of Vicksburg High School and attended Alcorn State University and Vicksburg Business College. She was employed as a home health care professional and was a member of Greater Grove Street M.B. church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis D. Hall Sr.; a brother, Dannye L. Hall; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Sweeney; and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Hall Sr.
She is survived by two sons, Arguallo Magee and Grimyko G. Magee of Vicksburg; her mother, Flora S. Hall of Vicksburg; five brothers, Dr. L.A. Hall Sr., Thomas N. “Tom” Hall and Allen Mason, all of Vicksburg, Karl L. Hall of Atlanta and Gary Mason of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Jackie Mason of Jackson and Tammye Mason of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; other relatives, including John N. “Boonie” Hall of Vicksburg and the Bass, Bingham, Chiplin, Hall and Hudson families.
Dillon-Chisley Funeral Hall has charge of arrangements.
Pfc. Oscar Howard Nettles.
A memorial service for Pfc. Oscar Howard Nettles will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pfc. Nettles died during the Korean War, and his remains were identified seven years ago. His remains were returned to Vicksburg this weekend.
PFC Nettles was born March 10, 1930, in Claiborne County to Isiah Nettles and Evelyn Bland Nettles. He attended McIntyre School before enlisting in the Army. He received training at Fort Benning, Ga., as a light-weapon infantryman, and served in the Korean War.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Smith; a sister, Rosa Griffin; a brother, Willie Nettles; his grandmother, Rosie Reed; and his grandfather, Howard Bland, all of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
