Rosemary Anderson-Smith.
MEMPHIS – Rosemary Anderson-Smith died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. She was 82.
Mrs. Anderson-Smith was born in Vicksburg and graduated from St. Francis Xavier Academy. She worked for many years for the Mississippi River Commission, Corps of Engineers, before moving to Memphis, where she continued her career with the Corps and retired from the Memphis District.
Mrs. Anderson-Smith was a communicant of St. Louis Catholic Church in Memphis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervyn Anderson-Smith Sr.; and her parents, Ulric N. and Mary Louise “Mamie” Schaffer of Vicksburg.
She is survived by one son, Mervyn “Andy” Anderson-Smith Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska; five daughters, Patricia Friere, Merilyn Orendorff, Marsha Nall, Carolyn Theobald and Glynnis Anderson-Smith, all of Memphis; a sister, Grace Schaffer Jones of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were in Memphis.
George W. Ashmore.
PATTISON – George W. Ashmore died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, at his home in Pattison. He was 79.
A World War II veteran, Mr. Ashmore was a member of St. Peter M.B. Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Minnie Bell Williams-Ashmore; and a sister, Pearlina Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Estella Bradley-Ashmore of Pattison; five sons, Floyd Ashmore of Port Gibson, Howard Ashmore of Madison, George Ashmore Jr. of Houston, Samuel Ashmore of Canton and Rodney Ashmore of Jackson; seven daughters, Emma Markham and Wanda Ashmore, both of Vicksburg, Alice Gaulden of Jackson, Lois Chess of Port Gibson, Janice Berry of Pattison, Beverly Bates of Madison and Tabatha Carr of Brookhaven; six brothers, Lee Vincent Ashmore, T.C. Ashmore, Columbus Ashmore and Robert Ashmore, all of Memphis, and Willie Charles Ashmore and Claude Ashmore, both of Hazlehurst; four sisters, Beatrice Green of Hermanville, Murtha Lee Shannon of Hazlehurst, Carrie C. Bell of Shreveport and Maggie Williams of Michigan City, Ind.; and grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Shady Grove M.B. Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Troy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.
Mary Alice White Fultz.
STARKVILLE – Mary Alice White “Nana” Fultz died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at her home. She was 79.
Mrs. Fultz was born in Greenwood to the late Carl White and Mollie Haimes White Retherford. She was a retired jewelry consultant and member of First Presbyterian Church in Starkville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe N. Fultz.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy McClung of Vicksburg, Linda Bane of Florida and Margaret Taylor of Starkville; a son, Andy Fultz of Starkville; a sister, Donna Retherford Weeks Goshen of Indiana; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Starkville with Dr. Olin McBride and the Rev. Steve Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Oktibbeha Memorial Gardens Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at Welch Funeral Home and from 9 until 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Chris Parrish, Graham Batte, Brad Johnston, Josh Taylor, Drew Fultz, Shawn Wozencraft, Jesse Jacobson and John Bell.
Honorary pallbearers will be officers of the Starkville Police Department, Dr. T. Jason Dunn, Kent Fultz, Joe Mobley, Ray Roach and Drexel Heath.

Debra Ann Hall Magee.
Services for Debra Ann Hall Magee will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Heroden Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.
Mrs. Magee died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident. She was 48.
Born in Vicksburg, she was an honor graduate of Vicksburg High School and attended Alcorn State University and Vicksburg Business College. She was employed as a home health care professional and a member of Greater Grove Street M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Louis D. Hall Sr.; a brother, Dannye L. Hall; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Sweeney; and her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Hall Sr.
She is survived by two sons, Arguallo Magee and Grimyko G. Magee, both of Vicksburg; her mother, Flora S. Hall of Vicksburg; five brothers, Dr. L.A. Hall Sr., Thomas N. “Tom” Hall and Allen Mason, all of Vicksburg, Karl L. Hall of Atlanta and Gary Mason of West Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Jackie Mason of Jackson and Tammye Mason of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and other relatives, including John Henry “Boonie” Hall of Vicksburg and the Bass, Bingham, Chiplin, Hall and Hudson families.
Stella Sollys Mathis.
FAYETTE COUNTY, Tenn. – Stella Sollys Mathis died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at her home. She was 74.
A resident of Fayette County, Mrs. Mathis was a retired complex office manager. She was a member of Feathers Chapel Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Billy W. Mathis of Fayette County; and a sister, Margerey S. Brown of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 4 today at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville, Tenn. Burial will follow at Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community.
Memorials may be made to Feathers Chapel Baptist Church.
Estelle J. Trussell.
Estelle J. Trussell died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2006, at River Region West in Vicksburg. She was 91.
A native of Helena, Ark., Mrs. Trussell had lived in Vicksburg since 1946. She was the daughter of the late Pleasant and Elizabeth Goin Bolding. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Trussell, four brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by a daughter, Lee Trussell Byrne of Vicksburg; two grandsons, John Byrne of Vicksburg and Wesley Byrne of Austin, Texas; and two great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with Drs. Russell O. Hays and John Larson officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Alex Baylot, Martin Pace, Elton Williams, Jerry Bell and Kenneth Halford Sr.

Mary Grace Tuccio.
Mary Grace “Gaye” Tuccio died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at her residence. She was 63.
Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late Samuel James Tuccio Sr. and Marjorie Gordon Tuccio.
Miss Tuccio was a 1961 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. She was a former employee of the Vicksburg Water and Gas Administration and the Mercy Hospital business office and pharmacy.
Miss Tuccio retired from Mississippi Power & Light Co. with 32 years of service. She was a communicant of St. Paul Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Ann Price; and a brother, Samuel James “Bubba” Tuccio Jr.
She is survived by a niece, Lisa Price Lusk of Rockwall, Texas; three nephews, Thomas Earl Price of New York, N.Y., Samuel James Tuccio III of Jackson, La., and David Gordon Tuccio of Vicksburg; a great-niece, Kayla Lusk of Rockwall; a brother-in-law, James “Sam” Price of Vicksburg; and a sister-in-law, Sheila Tuccio Wood and her husband, John, of Boulder, Colo.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church with the Rev. Donald Derivaux officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home with Rosary at 6:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Johnny McGriff, Barry Warnock, Mike Shiery, Jimmy Buell, Tommy Price, David Tuccio and John Faulk.

MILLER, S.D. – Services for Antonio Williams will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Williams died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller, S.D. He was 29.
A former resident of Vicksburg, he was a graduate of Vicksburg High School. He was employed with Global Harvesting of Harrold, S.D.
He is survived by his wife, Kimberly Ann Williams of Miller; five stepchildren, Maria V. Damaso of Georgia, Cassandra L. Sparks, Tiffany D. Sparks, Brandy Ann Reed and Carlos R. Damaso, all of Miller; his mother, LeaVera Haggard of Vicksburg; a sister, Keshia Williams of Vicksburg; four brothers, Cedric Williams of Miller, Bryant Williams of Mississippi and Ladell Haggard and Cornell Haggard, both of Vicksburg; his maternal grandmother, Ruthie Lee Williams of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles and other relatives, including the Brown and Smith families.

UTICA – Marilyn P. Wilson died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2006, in Edwards. She was 43.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church and the Baptist Aid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Willie B. Hall-Perkins.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny Wilson of Crystal Springs; a son, Johnny E. Wilson Jr. of Crystal Springs; a daughter, Ayarna N. Wilson of Crystal Springs; two sisters, Helen Perkins and Margie Perkins, both of Utica; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Cornelious Jones of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul M.B. Church in Utica with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Central Funeral Home in Crystal Springs and Saturday from noon until the hour of service at the church.
