Norman Cecil Braxton.
BASTROP, La. – Graveside services for Mr. Norman “Brownie” Cecil Braxton, 90, of Bastrop, La., are scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Cal Adams officiating.
Mr. Braxton, a retired construction superintendent from International Paper Company and Boiler Maker Local 112 of Mobile, Ala., passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2006, at Morehouse General Hospital. He also was a member of the Masonic Wahabi Temple of Jackson, Miss.
He is survived by daughter, Dianne Braxton Wilder of Vicksburg; two sons, James Norman Braxton of Bastrop and David L. Braxton of Jackson, Miss.; two sisters, Joyce Raborn of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Frances Youngerman of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, William C. Braxton of Pace, Fla., and Clyde Braxton and family of Anniston, Ala.; six grandchildren, Edgar P. Coltharp III of Eagle Rock, Alaska, Meghan Smith of Austin, Texas, Lakey Wilder of Vicksburg, Wendi Sibley of Jackson, Kristy Johnson of Bastrop and Amanda Braxton of Mobile, Ala.; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Braxton was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. W.C. and Mrs. Mabel Braxton of Evergreen, Ala.; his wife, Josephine Moiree Braxton; daughter, Carol Ann Coltharp; granddaughter, Kelli Leigh Braxton; daughter-in-law, Brenda Mardis Braxton; son-in-law, LeGrand Wilder; and brother, Wayne Braxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar P. Coltharp, Lakey Wilder, John Johnson, Jason Sibley, Christopher Smith and Terry Braxton.
Visitation will be today, Sept. 4, 2006, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Golden Funeral Home in Bastrop.
