Dr. Patricia Ann Gladwell.
Dr. Patricia Ann Gladwell died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at Shady Lawn Nursing Home. She was 56.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Gladwell was the daughter of the late Ernest Edward and Kathleen Bates Glidewell. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers.
She is survived by three daughters, Theresa Rios, Lisa Mohamed and April Wigley, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Dean Glidewell and J.W. Dunn, both of Laurel; two sisters, Kathy Hall Gilmer of Texas and Dorothy Gladwell of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. D.W. Tipton officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until hour of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gladwell Jr., Barney Owens, Willie Gladwell Sr., Donnie Russell, Timothy Russell, William Byrd Sr., Brad Monk and Johnny Barnes.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Thompson, David Gladwell, Edward Gladwell, Dean Glidewell Jr. and Bubba Glidewell.
Ivory Aretha Sevier Honore.
Services for Ivory Aretha Sevier Honore will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Rosary will begin at 6 tonight at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Honore died Sept. 4, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 95.
Mrs. Honore was born in Tallulah to the late Virginia White and Albert L. Sevier. She was a retired seamstress from New Orleans and an elevator operator at The Hotel Vicksburg and The Valley Dry Goods Store. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Honore; and a sister, Lucille White.
She is survived by her caregiver, Patricia Irwin of Vicksburg; four nephews, Ernest Brown Jr. of Vicksburg, Vincent Brown of Chicago, Robert L. Brown of Charlotte, N.C., and Mose Brown of New Orleans; a niece, Lucille Brown of Norwalk, Conn.; and other relatives, including the Irwin, Barnes and Brown families.
Nina Barnes Kendall.
PLANO, Texas – Nina Barnes Kendall died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006. She was 71.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otha Cecil Barnes and Emma Lou Taylor Barnes; and her grandfather, Jourdon Jefferson Barnes.
She is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Sparks Dunn of Dallas, Sue Sparks Worline of Allen, Texas, and Emmala Sparks Henry of Sparta, Tenn.; a son, Gregory Layne Sparks Sr. of Vicksburg; four brothers, Ellis Ray Barnes, Jerry Cecil Barnes, Paul Russell Barnes Sr. and Mack A. Barnes, all of Baldwyn, Miss.; a sister, Ivan Ell Barnes Samples of Booneville, Miss.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including John Kendall.
Memorial services will be at 4 today at Turrentine-Jackson Morrow Chapel in Allen, and at 3 p.m. Saturday at Prospect Baptist Church in Wheeler, Miss., with the Rev. Johnny Hamblin officiating. Burial will follow at Prentiss Memorial Garden.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
Mamie H. Rogers.
Services for Mamie H. Rogers will be at 11 a.m. Monday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Greg Clemts of Southside Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Monday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Rogers died Sunday, Sept. 3, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 109.
She worked as a seamstress, cook and model. She was a member of Bible Holiness Church. She had been featured in The Vicksburg Post less than a month ago, believed to be the oldest person living in Warren County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Rogers Sr.; her parents, Hillaird Harris and Virginia Stevens; a brother, Jack Harris; and two sisters, Lily Ellis and Elizabeth Harris.
She is survived by a son, Arthur Rogers Jr.; a brother, Walter “Son” Harris of Vicksburg; a sister, Lewer Mae “Baby Doll” Taylor of Vicksburg; other nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Bill and Brenda Hynum and family of Vicksburg.
Sarah Skinner.
Sarah Skinner died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 49.
A 1975 graduate of Vicksburg High School, Ms. Skinner was a member of Greater Mount Lebanon M.B. Church and The Angelic Voices.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eldridge Skinner Sr.
She is survived by a daughter, Veronica Skinner of Vicksburg; a son, Dexter Skinner of Vicksburg; her mother, Otha B. Stubbs Skinner of Vicksburg; a sister, Sharon Skinner of Vicksburg; a brother, Eldridge Skinner Jr. of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Nora Ann Tanner.
Nora Ann Tanner died Monday, Sept. 4, 2006, at Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 82.
Born in Crystal Springs, Mrs. Tanner was the daughter of the late Joshua Allen Gray and Maude Hemphill Gray. She retired as a clerk and night auditor from The Hotel Vicksburg and Scottish Inn. She attended Bovina Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Tanner; two daughters, Geneva Engram and Lorece Elledge; two granddaughters, Nora A. Kranzman and Elma Lanore Boatman; two sisters, Ruby Craft and Mary Ann Carroll; and a brother, William Gray.
She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Derryberry of Vicksburg and Rose Mary Peck of Clinton; two sisters, Jeanette Pittman of Jackson and Bessie Harrison of Pearl; a brother, J.W. Gray of Jackson; 13 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Chip Starnes of Bovina Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Thursday until the hour of service.
Pallbearers will be James F. Peck, Morris S. Peck II., James L. Irwin, Raymond Elledge, A.J. Saldana and Jeffery Austin.
