Evelyn Habeeb Grant.
Services for Evelyn Habeeb Grant were at 10 this morning at The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal, with the Rev. Michael Nation officiating. Burial followed at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
Mrs. Grant died Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 77.
A resident of Vicksburg and former resident of Mayersville, Mrs. Grant was a member of The Church of the Holy Trinity, Episcopal.
She was preceded in death by her son, Clarence Grant Jr.; and her parents, Ellis Michael and Mary Habeeb.
She is survived by four daughters, Mary Pine of Ingalls, Ind., Kathy Yelverton of Rolling Fork, Sherry Harrison of Memphis and Edna Tanous of Nesbit; a brother, George Habeeb of Vicksburg; a sister, Vicki Salem-Keller of Texas; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were Grant McIntosh, Breland Yelverton, Justin Harrison, Andrew Tanous, Edward Tanous and Wesley Benson.
Johnnie O’Quinn.
Services for Johnnie “Jake” O’Quinn will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church on Lane Street with the Rev. Roosevelt Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
Mr. O’Quinn died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. He was 79.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. O’Quinn was a truck driver. He retired from Anderson-Tully.
He was a native of Utica and a former member of the usher board at First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom O’Quinn and Ella Bradley; a brother, Robert O’Quinn; and a sister, Laura Wilson.
He is survived by his companion of 50 years, Rosie Lee Wallace of Vicksburg; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Christopher Chase Powers.
Christopher Chase Powers died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at University Medical Center in Jackson. He was 20.
Mr. Powers attended both Vicksburg and Warren Central high schools and graduated with honors from Camp Shelby Academy.
Mr. Powers was employed by Ergon Refining of Vicksburg. He was of the Baptist faith.
An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
