Clyde Burns.
Clyde “Iceman” Burns died Saturday, Oct. 14, 2006, at River Region Medical Center West Campus. He was 50.
Mr. Burns was a self-employed painter and member of New Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Liza Burns of Vicksburg; his parents, Theodore Raine of Mound Bayou and Hattie Jackson of Vicksburg; his stepfather, Sherman Jackson of Homerville, Ga.; two sons, Clyde Burns Jr. of Dallas and Eddie Burns of Vicksburg; three daughters, Tiffany Rogers, Shemeka Burns and Teenesha Burns, all of Vicksburg; eight sisters, Jacqueline Vickers and Tricilla D. Parson Galloway, both of Jacksonville, Fla., Jewel Davis of Houston, Texas, Lisa Sullivan and Rose Vaughns, both of Douglasville, Ga., Angela MaGee of Homerville, and Alice Beard and Cassandra Davis, both of Vicksburg; one brother, Lee Davis of Jackson; a stepbrother, Billy Jackson of Jackson; two grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Williams Funeral Service has charge of arrangements.
Kenny Ferriss.
FLORA – Kenny Ferriss died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, in Flora. He was 53.
Born in Yazoo County, Mr. Ferriss was the son of Harmon O. Ferriss and Mahalia Avis Hancock.
He is survived by two stepdaughters, Brittany Hilderbrand of Madison and Jessica Carpenter of Bentonia; and other relatives, including Rebecca Ferriss of Leland and Doris Burrough of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 3:30 today at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James McCluskey officiating. Burial will follow at Dover Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ken Henderson, Brandon Renicker, Jarrett Johnson, Cameron Renicker, Gerald Creel, Kale Johnson, Steven Johnson and Tyler Renicker.
Memorials may be made to the Dover Cemetery Fund.
Sidnah B. Savage.
TALLULAH – Services for Sidnah B. Savage will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Tallulah with the Rev. Jean Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Darnell, Ark.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Savage died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Madison Parish Hospital. She was 86.
She was born in Liddieville, La., and had lived in Tallulah most of her life. She was a cook for Upper Mississippi Towing Company. She also owned and operated Live Oaks Restaurant and worked as a seamstress for McRae’s. She was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Savage Sr.; and a son, Larry Wayne Savage.
She is survived by two sons, Alfred Salvage Jr. and David Savage, both of Natchitoches; four daughters, Patricia S. Pierce and Thelma Savage, both of Tallulah, Marion S. King of Delhi and Gloria S. Mayeux of Vicksburg; 71 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be David Savage, Timothy King, Tom King, D.J. Savage, Bump Lee, Alfred Savage III, Kenny Crawford and Don DeWeese.
Dora Gaskin Stewart.
Services for Dora Gaskin Stewart will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. Joseph Brisco officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the service at the church.
Mrs. Stewart died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Promise Specialty Hospital. She was 92.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Warren County and was a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church, where she was a church mother and member of the Church Vineyard Society. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Gaskin and Hattie Lawson Gaskin; her husband, Frank Stewart; three brothers, Joseph Gaskin, George Gaskin and Alfred Gaskin; and six sisters, Berlean Benard, Blanche Wilson, Elizabeth Winston, Arie Klein, Minnie Fisher and Alberta Turner.
She is survived by a brother, Edward Gaskin Jr. of Vicksburg; two sisters, Ernestine Boone and Willie Mae Singleton, both of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Christina Minor of Vicksburg and Josephine Guise of Flint, Mich.
Louis Waites.
PORT GIBSON – Louis Waites died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Claiborne County Nursing Center. He was 61.
Born in Claiborne County, Mr. Waites was a former resident of Vicksburg and had worked as a custodian. He was the son of the late Moses Lee Waites Sr. and Missouri Burrells-Waites.
He is survived by five brothers, Nathaniel Waites, Eligha Waites and Daniel Waites, all of New Orleans, Sylvester Waites of Detroit and Aaron Waites of Pattison; one sister, Betty Parker of Vicksburg; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wesley Chapel Church with the Rev. Robert Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Pattison Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 6 p.m. Tuesday at Rollins Funeral Home in Port Gibson.
