Irma Black.

Irma &#8220Dumpie” Black died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at her home. She was 66.

Born in Mobile, Ala., Mrs. Black had been a Vicksburg resident since 1968. She was a clerk for Ramada Limited and was of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nick Peters and Irma Peters; and a sister, Merle Bolton.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Newman and Greg Newman, both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Kelly Myers and Kim Ford, both of Vicksburg, and Vicki Darden of Onward; a brother, Nick Peters Jr. of Mobile; a sister, Barbara Sheppard of Bayou La Batre, Ala.; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Randall Mooney officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be James Tedder, Robert Martin, Jay Simon, Billy Henderson, John Erwin and Shane Ford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dinah Hennington, Nancy Miller and John Bell.

Troy Gaines.

UTICA – Troy Gaines died Friday, Oct. 13, 2006, at his home in Utica. He was 41.

Mr. Gaines had been an automotive technician at George Carr Motors since 1986.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Westhaven Memorial Funeral Home in Utica. Burial will follow at Pine Grove M.B. Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

John Smith Jr.

ROLLING FORK – John Smith Jr. died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at his home in Rolling Fork. He was 76.

Mr. Smith was retired. He was a veteran who had served in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Smith of Rolling Fork; three daughters, Carole Smith and Marquita Eaton, both of Rolling Fork, and Zelm Smith of Chicago; one brother, Warren Smith of Chicago; two sisters, Josie Butler and Veola Baker, both of Chicago; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Locust Grove M.B. Church with the Rev. John McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.

Visitation will be at the church Sunday from noon until the hour of the service.
