N.J. Brogdon Jr.

N.J. &#8220Jimmy” Brogdon Jr. died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 68.

Born in Warren County, he was the son of the late Noble Jimmy Brogdon Sr. and Florrie Augusta Brown Brogdon.

Mr. Brogdon was a graduate of Culkin High School and Mississippi State University. He retired in 1995 as a civil engineer with the Engineer Research and Development Center, Corps of Engineers, Waterways Experiment Station. He was a member and deacon at Woodlawn Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan Jacks Brogdon of Vicksburg; a daughter, Judy B. Hogan and her husband, Hoyt, of Vicksburg; a son, Perry Brogdon and his wife, Karen, of Russellville, Ark.; three brothers, Bobby Brogdon, Mike Brogdon and Tony Brogdon, all of Vicksburg; and four grandchildren, Joshua Brogdon, Jesse Brogdon, Jeremy Brogdon and Austin Thomas.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Campbell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Riles Funeral Home and Wednesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Joshua Brogdon, Jesse Brogdon, Jeremy Brogdon, Bobby Brogdon, Mike Brogdon and Tony Brogdon.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Kincaid, Gordon Cordes, Dr. Hendrik K. Kuiper and the Rev. Gene Jacks.

Robert W. Craig.

Robert W. Craig died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 31.

Mr. Craig was a native of Vicksburg. He was a former member of Bingham Memorial Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Craig Sr.; a brother, Kirk Craig Sr.; and his grandfather, Robert White Sr.

He is survived by two daughters, Kiara Craig and Ar’Kirra Brown, both of Vicksburg; one son, Kyvontre Elmore of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, KeiAvery Brooks of Vicksburg; his mother, Leona White Craig of Vicksburg; a brother, Samuel Craig Jr. of Vicksburg; a sister, Teffee Craig of Vicksburg; his grandmothers, Annie Bell White and Bernice Craig, both of Vicksburg; his great-grandmother, Lucinda James of Detroit; and other relatives and friends, including Yvonne Elmore and members of the Bingham, Caldwell, Crear, Holden, Stewart and White families.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Frances Jones Finane.

Frances Jones Finane died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at her home in Raymond. She was 86.

Mrs. Finane was born June 23, 1920, in Raymond. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, All Saints’ Episcopal School in Vicksburg, Mississippi College, class of 1942 and The Street Clinic Medical Laboratory in medical technology.

She formerly lived in Providence, R.I.; Kerrville, Texas; Natchez, Clinton, Jackson and Vicksburg and had been a resident of Raymond for the past 35 years.

Mrs. Finane was a sculptor and potter. She owned and operated Thompson Spur Pottery for 33 years. She was a vendor at the Fairgrounds Flea Market from its origin. At the time of her retirement, she was the oldest exhibitor at the Canton Flea Market.

She was a founding member of the Episcopal Church of the Creator in Clinton. While living in Vicksburg, she was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Trinity, where she taught Sunday school and she was employed while in Vicksburg with the Vicksburg Hospital as a laboratory and X-ray technologist.

Mrs. Finane was a master swimmer, having competed in high school and college. She was a gold medal winner in many State Senior Olympic events and a silver medal winner on the national level.

She was a board member of Very Special Arts in Mississippi. In 2002, Mrs. Finane was awarded the Ageless Heroes Award for Creativity from Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

She was a lover of animals, especially dogs, horses and cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Frederick William and Ruth Neal Jones, and her sister, Neal Jones Bledsoe.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Charles Finane; her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dr. David Christiansen, two grandsons, Matthew Christiansen and Will Christiansen, all of Starkville; her niece, Dr. Caroline Bledsoe Murphy of Skokie, Ill.; her nephews, Col. J.D. Bledsoe of Albuquerque, N.M., and Fred Bledsoe of Ridgecrest, Calif.; her cousins, Nancy Rachel Allen of Clinton, Jim Allen of New Orleans, and Bob Allen of Raymond; her faithful caregiver, Nancy Robinson, and DotCom, her canine love.

Her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Dominic Hospital and Gilbert’s Hospice, our faithful neighbors, the Leggett, Boyd and Bailey families and Wiley Greer.

Interment services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, in Raymond City Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. A Eucharistic Celebration of Frances Finanes’ life will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Episcopal Church of the Creator, 1445 Clinton-Raymond Road in Clinton, with the Rev. Luther Ott, the Rev. Janet Ott and the Rev. Mike Dobrosky officiating.

Visitations will be in Vicksburg Tuesday evening from 5 until 7 at Riles Funeral Home and in Clinton Wednesday morning from 10 until the hour of the services at the Episcopal Church of the Creator.

Memorials may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Creator, 1445 Clinton-Raymond Road, Clinton, MS 39056, or to a charity of choice.

Robert T. Harper Jr.

Robert T. &#8220Bob” Harper Jr. died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 65.

Born in Winona, Mr. Harper had been a Vicksburg resident for the past 40 years. He was a 1963 graduate of Mississippi State University and was a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army. He served with the 412th Engineer Brigade, retiring in 1991.

He served in Vietnam in 1965 and 1966 and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Linda C. Harper of Vicksburg; one son, Robert T. Harper III of Lacrosse, Wis.; one daughter, Becky Piper and her husband, Phillip, of Oxford; a sister, Dot Curtis of Hattiesburg; and one grandson, Jordan Piper of Oxford.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Argonna Sue Ogle.

Argonna Sue Ogle died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 87.

Born in Kenneth, Mo., Mrs. Ogle had been a resident of Vicksburg for most of her life. She was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Ogle; a son, Jerry D. Ogle; and a daughter, Betty Jo Jeffcoat.

She is survived by two sons, Darryl Ogle of Yazoo City and Rodney Ogle of Sharpsburg, Ga.; a daughter, Nancy Badeaux of Vicksburg; a brother, Ernest Self of Vicksburg; Marolyn Green of Monroe; 15 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Billy Brumfield and Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be David Ogle, Bill Ogle, Darryl Ogle, Gerald Ogle, William Ogle and Gary Ogle.

Don Neal Williams.

Don Neal Williams, infant son of Lacole Williams and Corbin Reed of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joyce Williams, Gwendolyn George and David Reed, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Jefferey Williams and Ja’Darrius Williams, both of Vicksburg; a sister, Denise Williams of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Keith Sims and Stacey Caston, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Brookhaven Cemetery in Bovina under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
