ROLLING FORK – Ben W. Kent Sr. died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at his home in Rolling Fork. He was 82.

Born in Greenwood, Miss., Mr. Kent had lived in Texas and Utah for many years. After living in Hollandale for three years, he moved to Rolling Fork in 1998. He retired from Coca Cola Company after 45 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gene D. Kent.

He is survived by three sons, Ben Kent Jr. of Huntsville, Texas, Jimmy Kent and Mike Kent, both of Cypress, Texas; a daughter, Sheree Bridgewater of Cypress, Texas; and a brother, Leroy Kent of Rolling Fork.

Services will be at 2 today at Hollandale Cemetery in Holland, Miss., under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. The Rev. Millard Caulter will officiate.

Pallbearers will be James Kent, George Kent, Dewey Cooper Jr., Marlon Nichols, Dave Shaffer and Dewayne Cooper.

Honorary pallbearers will be J.R. Kent, Jonathon Kent, Jermery Kent and Dr. Andrew George.

Alex Miller Jr.

Services for Alex &#8220Rex” Miller Jr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Williams Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Douglas Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Miller died Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at his home. He was 54.

Mr. Miller was a former member of Pleasant Valley Church. He was a former employee of Anderson-Tully Co.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alex Miller Sr.; and two brothers, Joseph Miller and Harry Miller.

Survivors include his mother, Clara Lee Miller of Vicksburg; two sons, Quincy Watson of Vicksburg and Antonio Bland of North Carolina; two daughters, Joshalyn Shells of Vicksburg and Shelia Butler of Houston, Texas; five brothers, Albert Lewis of Saginaw, Mich., Curtis Miller of Magee and David Miller, Kenny Miller and Tyrone Miller, all of Vicksburg; five sisters, Doris Carter, Evelyn Smith, Clara Walker, Deborah Miller and Sarah Ross, all of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Cathy Bright of Vicksburg and Marshall and T-Ethel Bridge of Maryville, Ind.

JACKSON – Michael Tory died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, in Jackson. He was 44.

Mr. Tory was born in Hinds County. He attended Utica High School, Hinds Community College in Raymond and the Career and Development Center. He was a former member of Cherry Grove M.B. Church in Edwards and New Faith Church in Utica, where he was a member of the male chorus.

He was employed with Malaco Records for a number of years and was a member of the Mississippi Magic wheelchair basketball team.

Mr. Tory was preceded in death by his parents, Josephine Tory and J.D. Johnson; and his foster parents, Eliza and Frank Gibbs.

Survivors include his wife, Sylvia Lofton Tory of Jackson; two daughters, Samanda Michelle Tory and Aranda Michelle Tory, both of Jackson; his stepmother, Altee Johnson of Jackson; seven sisters, Edna Bolton of Raymond, Rosie Barnes of Fayetteville, N.C., and Charlie Johnson, Brenda Johnson, Stephanie Johnson, Victoria Johnson and Gloria Thedford, all of Jackson; three brothers, James Johnson, Cornelius Johnson and J.D. Johnson Jr., all of Jackson; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including Ethel Murray.

Services will be at noon Saturday at New Faith Church in Utica. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Jackson.

Olivia Eddie Mae White.

Olivia Eddie Mae White died today, Nov. 9, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. White was a member and mother at Mount Givens M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy White; her parents, Avie Parker and Eddie Myles; and her grandparents.

She is survived by five sons, Edward Myles of Birmingham, Ala., Robert White of Waukegan, Ill., Leroy White Jr. of Knobnoster, Mo., William White of Surprise, Ariz., and David White of El Paso, Texas; nine daughters, Bertha Brown, Alice Scott, Doris Bolden, Rebecca Young, Olevia White, Rita Hunter and Shelia Dillamar, all of Vicksburg, Rosie Elder of Waukegan and Pamela King of Columbus, Ga.; one sister, Maude Lee of Vicksburg; one brother, William Myles of Rancho Cacamonga, Calif.; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
